Responsible for developing effective computing solutions to increase the security of their company's systems and projects. This role involves creating new ways to solve existing production security issues and requires an advanced understanding of intrusion detection and prevention protocols. One of the main responsibilities is to handle technical problems dealing with applications and production equipment. Candidates should possess exceptional incident-response skills and a high understanding of computer forensics. They will assess current workflows to determine possible future issues and work with other engineers and professionals to deploy new strategies to contain and mitigate production problems. Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a team setting are essential. The role requires a strong knowledge of common computer languages and operating systems. Responsibilities include keeping logs and performing regular security checks to find new vulnerabilities, developing automation scripts to handle and track incidents, configuring and setting up firewalls and intrusion detection systems, and responding to network intrusions. Familiarity with performing forensic investigations is necessary. Additionally, the candidate will test new or upgraded hardware and software, implement new technologies, and create test plans for proper evaluation of security issues for new hardware and software. Identifying security solutions and implementing a multi-layered defense to protect the networks is also required.
