This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a team of highly skilled professionals who support decision-making in the Oil & Gas industry through innovative user experience research. As a key member of the UX research team, you will drive strategic decisions, uncover critical insights, and help shape solutions that significantly impact global energy operations. This is a hybrid contract position located in Spring Valley, TX, with a preference for local candidates. The role is ideal for professionals with a background in user experience research within highly technical or scientific domains. The work environment is collaborative, and you will have the chance to engage with teams across the globe while solving unique challenges in the Oil & Gas sector. Key Responsibilities: Develop Research Strategies: Design research approaches that not only answer existing questions but also uncover new, valuable insights. Conduct Research: Lead both generative and evaluative research efforts, including user interviews, usability tests, and work shadowing. Data Management: Collect, analyze, and manage both qualitative and quantitative research data to inform design decisions. Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and leadership to communicate research findings and influence business strategy. Problem Solving: Scope undefined problems and objectives, providing clarity to stakeholders and project teams. Advocacy: Evangelize the value of UX research and design across teams that may not yet fully understand its impact. Required Qualifications: Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors, Information Science, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading substantial qualitative and mixed-methods research projects. Research Expertise: Deep understanding of various UX research methodologies, including user interviews, usability tests, focus groups, and work shadowing. Work Samples: Demonstrated ability to showcase work samples that illustrate your research process and ability to communicate findings effectively. On-Site Availability: Ability to work onsite at the Spring, TX campus a majority of the time. Industry Knowledge: Experience in the Oil & Gas sector or other technical/scientific domains is a strong plus. Enterprise Experience: Prior experience working on enterprise-level UX problems (e.g., help desk systems, productivity tools) is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications: Domain Knowledge: Previous experience working within engineering or scientific industries, particularly in Oil & Gas. Advanced UX Experience: Familiarity with UX challenges in large enterprise settings, including tools related to help desks and productivity systems.
