Role: Network Engineer Location: Memphis TN Duration: ASAP all contracts go thru 12/31 and are then extended indefinitely for 1-year terms; If not in the U.S. for 10 years, Client does an Int'l BG check which can take 2-3 weeks to get results back, so the start-date is affected by the timing of results Comm Skills: 10 out of 10 Top 5 Skills Required (MUST HAVE CURRENT/VERY RECENT EXPERIENCE): 5+ years of recent hands-on experience with TCP/IP and WAN/LAN technologies. 5+ years of recent hands-on experience with static & dynamic routing technologies. 5+ years of recent hands-on experience with enterprise-level Cisco switches. 3+ years of recent hands-on experience with stateful inspection firewall technologies including configuring, deploying and managing access list rules. 2+ years of recent hands-on experience with configuration & troubleshooting of network hardware such as switches and firewalls (not looking for someone who just works off templates). NOTES: 1) LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY who can work onsite at least 2-3 days a week, preferably U.S. if at all possible. 2) MUST HAVE current/very recent experience with the skills needed, actively using the skills in most recent jobs (not from 4-5 years ago). 3) MUST HAVE very strong, clear verbal communications, with clear understanding of directions being given to them. 4) MUST HAVE transportation to drive between client sites. Work Scope: The scope of the position is to ensure the secure operation of the in-house computer systems, servers, data, and network connections. This includes the development, implementation, and troubleshooting of Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices, as well as maintaining the infrastructure from architecture, design, and documentation through deployment and maintenance. communicate with other departments and organizations to ensure configuration effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency. Ensure that the site network is reliable and that performance exceeds service levels. Other responsibilities will be vulnerability assessment, and the analysis of security breaches. Job Skills: Experience with working in multiple computer operating systems and telecommunication environments. 5+ years of extensive experience with TCP/IP and WAN/LAN technologies. 5+ years of extensive experience with static and dynamic routing technologies. 5+ years of extensive knowledge of enterprise level Cisco switches. 3+ years of extensive experience developing processes and documentation to comply with national data security standards. 3+ years of experience with stateful inspection firewall technologies including configuring, deploying and managing access list rules. 3+ years of experience with Intruder Detection/Prevention Systems. 2+ years of experience with supporting site-to-site (IPsec) VPN tunnels. Fundamental knowledge of DNS, remote access solutions, application programming, and directory services. 2+ years of recent hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of network hardware such as switches and firewalls. Not looking for someone who just works off templates. Duties and Responsibilities: Apply principles/concepts to most complex/diversified engineering, business and technical system design projects; act as project leader; extremely accountable for end results. Configuring and monitoring LAN/WAN infrastructure activity and performance for identifying potential security, speed, and performance utilizing LAN/WAN, QoS, VLAN, IOS, Netflow and SNMP. Utilizing available network troubleshooting tools, including network packet captures, monitoring devices, log files, and customer input in order to facilitate effective issues resolution. Be fluent in hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of network hardware and software appliances. Be fluent in the areas of access control, cryptography, intrusion detection/prevention; secure application development, security system design, operations security, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, as well as physical security. Plan, formulate and implement conversion procedures; determine system hardware requirements; make feasibility studies and recommend most optimal system goals/economies. Prepare/maintain full system documentation; analyze electronic threats, breaches, risks, and ensure safe computing practices. Review/evaluate existing programs and procedures to ensure proper controls, security measures, redundancy, goals and economies have been obtained. Perform other duties as directed. Certifications: The following certifications will be a primary consideration of employment.
