Key Responsibilities: Data Exploration & Integration: Identify, analyze, and integrate data from various sources to drive business insights. Python Development: Use Jupyter Notebooks for data processing, modeling, and visualization. Dashboard & Reporting: Build interactive reports, KPIs, and dashboards using Plotly/Dash (preferred) or other visualization tools. Problem Solving & Domain Adaptation: Quickly grasp industry terminology and business challenges, translating them into effective data solutions. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work directly with the CFO and key business leaders to understand reporting needs and deliver actionable insights. Creative & Confident Execution: Ability to communicate findings with confidence, suggest improvements, and think outside the box. Technical Skills & Qualifications: VERY strong Python skills able to analyze, manipulate, and visualize data effectively Experience with Jupyter Notebook for data exploration and reporting Proficiency in Plotly/Dash (preferred) or other visualization tools Ability to build high-quality dashboards and KPI reports Understanding of business and financial data to derive meaningful insights Quick adaptability to new industries and business models Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with executive stakeholders Interview Process: Candidates should expect a technical interview, including a hands-on assessment where they will: Analyze two spreadsheets of data Develop insights using Python in Jupyter Notebook Build a simple interactive dashboard in Dash (or alternative tools) Must-Have Skills & Experience Python & Jupyter Notebook for Excel Automation Needs strong proficiency in Pandas, NumPy, and data wrangling (list comprehension, dictionaries, handling large datasets). Understanding of Excel integration with Python (e.g., openpyxl, pandas Excel output). Ability to understand and translate financial data (PNL, earnings analysis, margin breakdown). Experience working with CFOs and finance teams to analyze and automate reporting. Should know financial KPIs & data storytelling techniques. SQL & Data Pipelines Must be able to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from SQL databases into structured Excel/BI reports. Experience in query optimization, joins, and working with large datasets in SQL. Tableau & Data Visualization Should be comfortable with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, and understand how to present complex financial insights visually. Problem-Solving in Python (Real-World Case) Needs to be able to debug, fix, and improve existing Python scripts. Should have experience with financial modeling & forecasting using Python (like the loan amortization problem in the interview). 3 Next Interview Process Live Python Debugging Challenge Give a real-world issue with problem and test how fast they can debug & correct it. SQL & Finance Data Challenge Provide a messy dataset (SQL or Excel) and ask them to clean, transform, and present it. Excel-to-Python Case Study Give them a real CFO report in Excel and test how they would automate it using Python & Jupyter Notebook. Business Data Analysis Test their ability to interpret financial data (PnL, margins, trends) and communicate with executives. What to Look for in the Next Candidate Must be a hands-on Python expert (Jupyter, Pandas, NumPy, list comprehensions, debugging). Strong financial & business acumen (can analyze PnL, margins, forecast trends). SQL & Data Wrangling (ETL pipelines, large dataset management, database querying). Excellent communication (can explain data insights to CFOs in a simple way). Tableau/Power BI experience (ability to visualize and present financial data).
