Job Description: What youll do Engage in discovery activities, including: competitive analysis, user task and goals identification, journey maps, process flows, and user research, in partnership with the UX Research team. Collaborate on problem definition, in partnership with Product Management. Participate and assist in the facilitation of collaborative ideation sessions with cross-functional partners and leadership. Clearly communicate design rationale to core partners and stakeholders, and be open to their feedback. Contribute to creating and delivering presentations. Create deliverables that communicate problems and/or solutions to stakeholders - using the appropriate tools, artifacts, and fidelity level for the audience/purpose. For example: wireframes, information architecture, mock-ups, interactive prototypes, final asset delivery. Utilize and contribute components to UI libraries / design systems. Maintain UX documentation, such as: work tickets, component specs, feature summary documentation, documenting feedback, usage guidelines, research findings. Required skills & Experience 3+ years of experience in product design or user experience design, preferably in retail, ecommerce, omni-channel or adjacent industries. Proven skills in all of the following: User Centered Design methodologies; creating mock-ups and prototypes at varying levels of fidelity; UI design, including current industry best-practice in UI standards, and Accessibility requirements, for web and mobile. A portfolio demonstrating your end-to-end design process. Proficient in Figma and Miro (or equivalent tools). Ability to drive results in a collaborative environment. Solid presentation skills to share your work with credibility, clarity, and confidence. Ability in facilitation techniques that enable groups to build clarity and alignment. Experience translating qualitative and quantitative data into design decisions. Practical understanding (including capabilities, patterns and limitations) of current technologies used to build rich experiences in responsive web and native mobile apps. Ability to balance great design solutions with an iterative, agile approach. BA / BS degree UX/UI design, UCD, HCI, or related field of study, or equivalent experience. Need clear problem framing and storytelling. Designer gave her notice, wants some overlap with her backfill, help with onboarding, training, etc Workstream: Homepage Gifting Highlights - HGH Homepage: Thinking through job to be done there, critical in guest journey. Thinking about a North Star Vision - defining the jobs to be done, rethinking components within that space and improve User Experience. Gifting: Want to be a gifting destination 365 days, with holidays for their Superbowl Highlights: Badging - how to do best selling and trending to narrow down selection of product, they rely on social proofing concepts. Channels: Both web and iOS Ongoing work, very high priority, visibility - lot of cross functional partners on the homepage side. Product, Ecomm, Merchandising, Marketing - lot of players interfacing with these stakeholders. Skills: Storytelling - lot of pitching of ideas and proposals Collaboration - lot of eyes and ears, touching a lot of key spaces Strategy - thinking big, but be able to dive deep into details UI Visual Design - strong visual design/user interface skills Documentation and Presentation Design - also very important aspects. User flows, presentations, etc - need to get buy-in from stakeholders and leadership. Tools: Figma primary design tool, recently been using Figma slides for their presentations Miro is workshopping tool Some still use Adobe Creative Cloud for iconography Jira/Confluence - Atlassian suite stuff, Slack Experience: Mid-Senior level Designer, currently has two designers in that space, but will only have one - they would become singular designer. What stands out to them: Portfolios that have a clear hierarchy and sense of organization - quickly scannable and digestible. As they were reviewing it needs to be intuitive, don't want to spend time hunting for information - be able to share beginning, middle, and end. Wants to be taken on a journey for how they got there. Visual Resumes: Attention to detail on the resume - theres so much intentionality, they appreciate someone that takes the time to craft something, even a resume. Background: Has found some people with great skills, but would be great to have Retail/Ecommerce - sometimes other industries can bring some good ideas into solving problems. Culture/Team: Very large team, largest in the US Org. Plus side - lot of other creatives to collab with, can strengthen their work and have a good feedback system. Great sense of community and a very safe space, and have a lot of fun. Balcony: A bit matrixed, lot of work streams and priorities - they would need to be proactive in seeking collaboration and paying attention to what others are doing. Fill gaps, finding overlap. Deadlines: They have some tight deadlines - lot of fun, but high-priority work. The senior leadership is very invested in their work. 3/4s of their traffic touches the experience that Johns team touches. Exciting, and rewarding, but also can feel pressure filled at times.
