Job Title: Lead Application Developer Banner & Slate Systems

Location: 100%Remote

Job Summary:

The Application Development Lead provides and/or leads application development and IT analysis services, with a primary focus on expertise in Banner and Slate systems. This role includes supporting various third-party applications, developing requirements and specifications for new software, and analyzing change requests for existing systems. The individual will translate requirements into technical solutions and maintain documentation for existing applications and processes.

Key responsibilities include:

Acting as a project manager for IT application development/testing initiatives, including prioritizing projects, managing schedules/deliverables, and utilizing a software development life cycle (SDLC) methodology such as Agile.
Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders across the organization to document project requirements, specifications, and priorities, focusing on optimizing Banner and Slate systems.
Leading business process mapping, gap analysis activities, and supporting data-driven decision-making leveraging Banner and Slate data.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

Software Development:

Perform software development, customization, and support for Banner and Slate systems.
Learn and support new software technologies, including third-party applications, focusing on integrating Banner and Slate with other systems.
Facilitate software testing, code reviews, and version control processes for Banner and Slate-related projects.
Drive and participate in the systems development lifecycle (SDLC) and maintain the associated documentation.
Develop applications and systems based on gathered requirements, adhering to internal standards and practices.
Analysis:

Communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to gather and define project requirements, especially for Banner and Slate integration.
Lead process mapping activities, perform gap analyses, and translate findings into functional/technical documentation.
Ensure compliance with organizational standards, maintain necessary documentation, and safeguard sensitive data such as FERPA information processed in Banner and Slate.
Leadership:

Provide technical and analytical guidance to IT team members, offering training on Banner and Slate best practices.
Lead IT application development/testing initiatives, managing projects using SDLC methodologies like Agile.
Contribute to IT roadmap planning and budget development, particularly for Banner and Slate initiatives.
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of Banner and Slate systems.
Other Duties as Assigned:

Support organizational IT initiatives with a focus on enhancing processes related to Banner and Slate systems.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field is required.
5+ years of software development/analyst experience in a higher education or corporate environment.
Expertise with Banner and Slate systems, including customization, integration, and support, is required.

Special Requirements:

Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, .Net framework (C#.Net), Java, JavaScript, SQL, PL/SQL, and API development.
Knowledge of Banner and Slate system architecture and their integration with other systems.
Understanding of Agile SDLC methodologies is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
Proficiency in testing and quality assurance processes, with attention to detail.
Additional Desired Characteristics:

Knowledge of Agile SDLC methodologies.

Prior experience in higher education IT environments is a plus.
