Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced iSeries/AS400 QA Lead to join our team in Issaquah, WA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in iSeries/AS400, RPG, and SQL, with a focus on software quality assurance (QA). This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in quality assurance and a passion for ensuring the highest standards in software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Software Test Strategy and Execution: Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, plans, and scripts for functional, integration, system, end-to-end, and acceptance testing.

QA Best Practices: Develop and enforce adherence to standardized software quality assurance practices, policies, and controls throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Test Documentation: Create, review, and approve project test cases, scripts, and related QA documentation. Ensure test cases are traceable to business requirements and user stories.

Defect Management: Oversee the defect management process, from defect identification to resolution. Manage defect lifecycle, providing timely updates and communicating effectively with stakeholders.

Risk Management: Participate in the risk management process, defining and mitigating potential risks, issues, and defects in testing phases.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to resolve defects and collaborate on improving QA processes.

Test Resource Planning: Estimate QA resource needs and testing schedules, ensuring proper allocation and coordination.

Mentorship: Mentor junior QA team members, helping them develop necessary skills in application concepts and QA tools.

Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to QA processes and systems, enhancing test automation where possible.

Required Qualifications

Experience:

6+ years of hands-on experience with iSeries/AS400 platforms.

6+ years of experience in RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, Control Language (CLP/CLLE).

5+ years of experience analyzing physical and logical files, SQL tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.

Minimum of 3 years of software quality assurance experience, preferably in an iSeries/RPG environment.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in HP ALM or similar QA tools.

Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, SDLC, and DevOps processes.

Experience with Cloud-based testing, UI testing, functional testing, and RDBMS.

Familiarity with Oracle, MS SQL Server, or DB2, including the ability to write SQL queries with table joins.

Solid understanding of build tools and software configuration management.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Demonstrated ability to create detailed, effective test plans and test cases.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Agile or DevOps teams in a QA capacity.

Familiarity with additional QA tools and industry best practices.

Experience in mentoring and developing junior QA team members.
