https://jobs.nvoids.com/job_details.jsp?id=2230948&uid= Role: Data Center Technician Role Location(s): San Jose, CA and Ashburn, VA Type- Contract Project Overview: The Network Hub Replacement project requires 3rd party help at our data centers (San Jose, CA and Ashburn, VA). The vendor will work with the project team and be responsible the physical movement of the 40 or so network devices from one set of cabinets to another. Role Scope / Deliverables: The 3rd party vendor will provide data center professionals well versed in the best practices of working in an enterprise, critical data center as well as with the installation, labeling and cabling of information technology equipment in such environments. They must specialize and have extensive experience with actually moving data centers and bring project plan, best practices and team skills in order to: 1) Participate in the pre-cutover planning sessions bringing their experience and knowledge to establish the migration plan, 2) Pre-install fiber, copper and power cabling in the new cabinets following the predetermined rack elevation plans, 3) On cutover weekend, un-rack network gear from existing cabinets making sure to document everything while verifying the project plan, 4) Safely and securely transport all gear from the current to new location following all access requirements 5) Re-install all gear into the new cabinets leveraging the pre-installed cable and rack elevation plans in order to keep downtime to a minimum, and 6) Be available for troubleshooting as needed. Key Skills: - Experience with working in live, critical data centers both with how to interact with the room as well as how to properly label, install and dress equipment and cabling to ensure serviceability and ease of operations in the future including airflow, accessibility and power failover. - Experience with moving data center equipment from one location to another including proper documentation, packing, transporting safely and securely and following all access and security protocols established by the co-lo vendor - Experience with providing project planning, documentation and methods of procedure to ensure the project is delivered on time, safely and within the requirements provided - Experience working with Equinix data centers would be very helpful - The proper vendor will actually be in the, 'data center moving' business.
