Job Title: Database Administrator (MS SQL DBA) Location: Burlington, MA (TCS - Boston, MA) Employment Type: Contract (12 Months) Start Date: April 12, 2025 Payment Mode: Hourly (USD) Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016, 2017, 2019) and Azure SQL environments. The ideal candidate will ensure database availability, optimization, security, and high performance in both on-premises and cloud (Azure IaaS, Managed Instance) environments. The role requires hands-on experience in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and database administration while collaborating with application teams and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Ensure availability, optimization, and performance of MS SQL Server (2016, 2017, 2019) in Hosted and Azure IaaS SQL VM environments. Manage and support Azure SQL Database and Managed Instances. Follow technical standards, security protocols, and operational procedures to maintain database performance, scalability, high availability, and replication. Troubleshoot real-time database issues and provide root cause analysis for system reliability. Perform query performance tuning and optimize database instances using tools such as SolarWinds, Query Store, and other performance monitoring tools. Work closely with application development teams to ensure database integrity, security, and efficiency in design and implementation. Review database design and code to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices. Provide technical support for database-related issues and resolve high-priority incidents. Participate in disaster recovery planning, backup and restore strategies, and database encryption management. Collaborate with the Database Team Lead and Application Support Teams to enhance database performance and reliability. Stay updated with Azure certifications (DP-300, DP-900, AZ-900) and emerging database technologies. Required Skills & Qualifications: 10+ years of experience managing large-scale MS SQL Server databases in a 24x7 production environment. Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with SQL Server in Azure (IaaS, Managed Instances, Azure SQL DB). Knowledge of database replication, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and security best practices. Proficiency in backup and restore strategies, database encryption, and compliance standards. Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools (SolarWinds, Query Store, etc.). Ability to work in cross-functional teams and provide technical support for application teams. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage high-priority incidents efficiently. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Desirable Skills: Experience with ITIL frameworks and incident management best practices. Knowledge of cloud-based automation and scripting for database administration. Microsoft Azure certifications (DP-300, DP-900, AZ-900) are a plus.
