Position Overview:

This position performs advanced, senior-level business analysis work, supporting multiple projects and special assignments as needed. The Senior Business Analyst serves as the primary liaison between the program/customer community and the software development team, ensuring that business requirements are accurately gathered, documented, and communicated throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).

The Senior Business Analyst will participate in all phases of the SDLC, from initial requirements gathering to post-implementation enhancements. After requirements are established, the focus shifts to requirements management, ensuring all specifications are met and verified.

Key Responsibilities:

Elicit and document detailed business requirements by conducting interviews and working sessions with customers and stakeholders.

Create comprehensive system requirements documents that capture functional and non-functional requirements.

Analyze and document existing business processes and recommend process improvements where applicable.

Develop user stories and use cases that align with industry best practices for business analysis.

Design mockups and wireframes that align with user experience (UX) best practices to support system design discussions.

Collaborate closely with development teams to clarify requirements and resolve gaps during the development cycle.

Support system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that requirements are fully implemented.

Manage and track changes to requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Provide post-implementation support, including gathering enhancement requests and ensuring they are properly documented and prioritized.

Facilitate communication between business users and technical teams to ensure alignment and shared understanding of project goals and system functionality.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

12+ years of experience eliciting requirements through interviews and creating well-written system requirements documents.

8 years of experience working within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

8 years of experience in business process re-engineering and improving software process flows.

8 years of experience developing user stories and use cases that conform to industry best practices.

8 years of experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that follow UX best practices.

5 years of experience demonstrating strong communication and facilitation skills, including leading meetings and discussions with stakeholders.

5 years of experience demonstrating strong writing and organizational skills, including managing multiple concurrent projects.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

3 years of experience using requirements management software, such as Modern Requirements.

3 years of experience using issue tracking software, such as Atlassian Jira.

2 years of experience working for or closely with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or another state or local education agency.

1 year of experience working with one or more TEA applications, such as FSP, TSDS, or TEA Help Desk.
