Define memory allocation, network settings, and security policies as per application requirements. Application Deployment: Deploy web applications to Tomcat servers. Manage the application lifecycle and ensure proper access controls are implemented. Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Actively monitor Tomcat performance metrics such as CPU usage, memory consumption, and response times. Identify bottlenecks and implement performance tuning strategies to optimize server performance. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve issues related to Tomcat server errors, application crashes, and connectivity problems. Provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime. Security Management: Implement security measures such as user authentication, authorization, and encryption to protect against unauthorized access. Ensure security policies are up-to-date and compliant with organizational standards. Backup & Disaster Recovery: Perform regular backups of Tomcat configurations and data. Develop and maintain disaster recovery strategies to ensure system continuity. Capacity Planning & Scaling: Assess future application demands and plan accordingly to scale the Tomcat infrastructure. Implement strategies to accommodate growth and optimize resources. Log Analysis: Review and analyze Tomcat logs to identify potential issues, trends, and performance anomalies. Create reports for management and development teams. Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with developers to address application deployment challenges and optimize Tomcat configurations for specific applications. Required Skills: Proficient in Java and Java EE technologies: Java Servlets, JSP, and other Java-based web applications. Expertise in Apache Tomcat administration, including in-depth knowledge of configuration options, management tools, and command-line interfaces. Proficiency in operating systems like Linux or Unix-based platforms. Strong understanding of networking protocols, load balancing, and firewalls. Problem-solving skills to analyze complex technical issues and identify root causes. Familiarity with system monitoring and logging tools to track Tomcat performance and identify anomalies. Scripting abilities in Bash, Power, or other automation tools. Familiarity with Pyramid IT Middleware (Apache, Tomcat, JBoss) is a plus. Desirable Skills: Experience with other web servers and application servers (Apache, JBoss). Knowledge of cloud environments and automation tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
