This role involves helping design, develop, and optimize a new Operational (OLTP) Azure SQL Database that supports both internal and external websites and systems. The ideal candidate will work in a controlled DevOps environment, leveraging their expertise in SQL Server, CI/CD pipelines, and data modeling to deliver robust and efficient database solutions. Key Highlights: Develop and implement an Operational Azure SQL Database for internal and external systems. Collaborate in a DevOps environment using GitHub for continuous integration and delivery. Translate physical data models into database structures, including tables, stored procedures, indexes, and full-text capabilities. Establish automated processes for unit testing and data quality validation. Ensure database performance and scalability to meet operational needs. Job Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, including tables, stored procedures, views, indexes, and triggers. Implement full-text search capabilities to enhance website functionality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to operationalize databases supporting external-facing websites and APIs. Optimize database queries and performance, ensuring high availability and reliability. Utilize GitHub and SQL Projects to manage development workflows and maintain version control. Automate unit testing and data quality checks to ensure robust database solutions. Support API interactions by developing and refining data models tailored to application needs. Document database designs, processes, and procedures to maintain clarity and ensure seamless handoffs. Proactively monitor and troubleshoot database issues, implementing preventative solutions. Must-Have Qualifications Proven experience in Microsoft SQL Server development, including T-SQL, stored procedures, views, indexes, and triggers. Expertise in a DevOps environment with CI/CD workflows managed via GitHub. Hands-on experience building operational databases that support external-facing websites. Strong skills in query tuning and optimization for performance. Familiarity with SQL Projects as part of the development process. Nice-to-Have Skills Experience in building GitHub Actions for SQL automation processes. Knowledge of Azure AI Search and its integration with SQL databases. Proficiency in building and automating SQL unit tests. Leveraging AI tools like GitHub Copilot to improve productivity. Experience using Postman to test and interact with APIs. Background in building APIs. Familiarity with ERwin Data Modeling Tool. Experience with Microsoft Data API Builder.
