From: Paul, Rwaltz [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Job Title: IBM Websphere Architect (Retail/E Commerce) Duration: 6 + Months Location: Remote (EST hours) We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on WCS (HCL Commerce/IBM WebSphere Commerce) Architect to drive the technical direction of our enterprise e-commerce platform for a leading retail sports apparel company. This role requires deep expertise in HCL Commerce (formerly IBM WebSphere Commerce) and the ability to push and guide developers toward high-quality, on-time project delivery. The architect will play a critical role in ensuring scalability, performance, and seamless customer experiences across digital commerce channels. Key Responsibilities: Architect and Design: Lead the end-to-end architecture, design, and implementation of a scalable, high-performance HCL Commerceplatform for a retail sports apparel business. Technical Leadership: Provide hands-on guidance to developers, enforce best practices, and drive high-quality coding standards. Hands-On Development: Actively contribute to coding, debugging, performance tuning, and resolving critical technical issues. E-Commerce Platform Optimization: Ensurefast load times, high availability, and seamless checkout experiences across web and mobile platforms. Third-Party Integrations: Oversee and implement integrations with ERP (SAP, Oracle, or others), CRM, Payment Gateways, Inventory Management, and Fulfillment Systems. Omnichannel Strategy: Enable seamless experiences between online, mobile, and in-store shopping channels. Agile & DevOps Practices: Work withinAgile/Scrum teams, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and ensure deployments follow DevOps best practices. Security & Compliance: Ensure adherence to PCI-DSS, OWASP security standards, and data protection regulations. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business, marketing, and IT teams to translate business goals into scalable commerce solutions. Required Skills & Experience: 15+ years of experience in IBM WebSphere Commerce / HCL Commerce (v7, v8, v9). Expertise in Java, J2EE, REST APIs, Spring, Struts, JSP, and EJBs. Strong knowledge of HCL Commerce architecture, subsystems (Catalog, Order Management, Pricing, Promotions, Search, etc.). Experience in headless commerce, microservices, React/Angular-based front-end frameworks. Hands-on experience with Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Kubernetes/Docker. Experience integrating e-commerce with ERP, CRM, loyalty programs, and marketing automation tools. Experience with A/B testing, personalization, and AI-driven recommendations for customer experience enhancement. Experience in high-traffic retail/e-commerce environments with a focus on scalability and performance. Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor development teams. Strong knowledge of integration with ERP and external service integration. Strong knowledge of programming good practices and code review experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with merger and acquisition project.
