Job Summary The Florida Department of Transportations Tolls Division is seeking a skilled Team Lead Software Developer to lead the development of the SunPass application across iOS, Android, and web platforms. SunPass, Floridas prepaid toll program, serves millions of drivers by enabling electronic toll payments for a smooth travel experience. In this role, youll harness modern tools and technologies to deliver secure, intuitive, and responsive solutions that allow users to manage accounts, reload funds, and track toll usageimproving daily life across Florida.

Key Responsibilities Cross-Platform Development: Design, develop, and maintain the SunPass app for iOS, Android, and web, delivering a consistent and user-friendly experience across all platforms, with a focus on responsive web design for the web application to ensure usability on desktops, tablets, and mobile browsers. Wireframes to Reality: Work with designers to pull wireframes and prototypes from Figma and bring them to life as pixel-perfect, functional interfaces using React Native for mobile and React with responsive layouts for the web. Feature Implementation: Develop key features like secure login, account balance tracking, fund reloading (via credit/debit cards or bank accounts), transaction history, vehicle management, and transponder updates, ensuring the web version is fully responsive and accessible across devices. Code Quality & Testing: Write type-safe code with TypeScript, maintain standards with ESLint for linting, and ensure reliability using Jest for unit and integration testing across mobile and responsive web platforms. State Management & UI Development: Leverage MobX State Trees for robust state management and Storybook to build, document, and test UI components in isolation, verifying responsiveness for web interfaces. Debugging & API Integration: Use Reactotron to debug React Native apps, Postman to test APIs, and Android Studio (Android) and Xcode (iOS) for platform-specific tasks, while ensuring web APIs support a responsive front-end experience. Development Environment: Utilize VSCode or IntelliJ as your primary IDE, optimizing your workflow for efficient mobile and responsive web development. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with designers, product managers, and developers, mentoring junior team members through code reviews and guidance on responsive design best practices. Continuous Improvement: Explore innovative tools and techniques to enhance the SunPass app, ensuring scalability and responsiveness meet the demands of a growing user base.

Required Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Experience: At least 7 years of software development experience, with expertise in mobile and responsive web applications. Core Technologies: Mobile: Strong skills in React Native with Expo + EAS for cross-platform iOS and Android apps. Web: Proficiency in React with Vite and Tailwind CSS, emphasizing responsive web development to create adaptive, mobile-friendly web interfaces. Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of TypeScript for building type-safe, maintainable codebases across mobile and responsive web platforms. Experience with ESLint for linting, Jest for testing, MobX State Trees for state management, and Storybook for developing and testing responsive UI components. Ability to pull designs from Figma and implement them accurately, ensuring responsiveness for web applications. Proficiency with Postman for API testing, Reactotron for debugging React Native, and Android Studio and Xcode for platform-specific development, alongside skills in responsive web debugging. Comfort using VSCode or IntelliJ as the primary development environment. Security: Understanding of best practices for securing applications handling sensitive user data, including responsive web contexts. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, particularly in responsive design challenges. Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to work with technical and non-technical team members on cross-platform and responsive solutions.

Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with native mobile languages like Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java. Experience with high-traffic, scalable applications, including responsive web systems. Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to enhance responsive web usability. Previous work on payment systems or public sector projects. |
