Job Title: Data Scientist (Data Governance & Modeling) Location: San Antonio, TX Start Date: April 1, 2025 Status: Open Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist (Data Governance & Modeling) to join our team for a critical project with . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance, data quality, data modeling, and ETL processes, with experience working in the. This role requires expertise in tools such as Bigeye for data observability and Alation for data cataloging. You will play a key role in leading data modeling efforts, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with business analysts and technical architects to deliver robust, scalable data solutions. Key Responsibilities: Data Governance & Quality: Implement Bigeye for proactive data observability and quality monitoring. Utilize Alation to manage data cataloging and lineage. Define and enforce data quality rules, trust flags, and data tagging strategies to enhance data integrity. Conduct data profiling to assess data usability and resolve inconsistencies. Data Modeling: Lead a team of data modelers in developing logical and physical data models for enterprise-scale projects. Optimize existing data models to support evolving business requirements. Ensure naming conventions, metadata management, and data modeling best practices are followed. Work closely with business analysts and architects to translate business needs into efficient data structures.Lead 2-3 mid-to-large data-driven projects from inception to completion. Manage and mentor data modeling teams to ensure project success. ETL & Data Processing: Work with ETL tools such as Informatica, DataStage, and Ab Initio to streamline data pipelines. Support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) workflows for large datasets. Required Skills & Experience: 4-6 years of experience in data science, data governance, and data modeling. Strong expertise in data quality management, data lineage, and data profiling. Hands-on experience with Bigeye (data observability) and Alation (data cataloging). Proficiency in logical and physical data modeling principles. Experience leading data modeling teams and managing large-scale projects. Deep understanding of USAA internal systems and regulatory compliance. Strong ETL experience with tools like Informatica, DataStage, or Ab Initio. Python proficiency for data science and automation. Preferred Skills: Advanced certifications in data management, data governance, or data engineering. Experience in financial services or highly regulated environments.
