The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing complex database architectures. You will work on both operational and analytical databases, ensuring efficient data modeling and optimization to meet business needs. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and hands-on experience with relational and cloud-based databases, ETL processes, and database modeling tools. Key Responsibilities: Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable and high-performance databases. Create, maintain, and optimize data models (3NF normalization and dimensional modeling). Implement operational databases (e.g., Aurora PostgreSQL) and analytical databases (e.g., Snowflake). Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate data models and ensure system scalability. Ensure data integrity, security, and performance optimization in database environments. Lead data migration projects and oversee database performance monitoring. Contribute to the development of ETL pipelines and data integration strategies. Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to junior team members. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience in database architecture, modeling, and administration. Proven leadership experience with at least 3 large-scale database projects, demonstrating successful project outcomes. Extensive hands-on experience with 3NF normalization (at least a dozen projects) and dimensional modeling (2+ projects). Expertise with cloud-based and operational databases, such as Aurora PostgreSQL, and analytical databases like Snowflake. Proven track record of working in fast-paced environments with large engineering teams. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of relational databases, cloud-based databases, and data modeling concepts. Proficiency in using database modeling tools such as Erwin. Experience with database monitoring tools like Datadog. Familiarity with ETL development and data integration processes. Experience working with SaaS platforms like Guidewire is a plus.
