Duration : 1 to 2 years. Key Responsibilities: Administer and manage IBM z/OS UNIX System Services (USS) to ensure high performance, availability, and security of mainframe-based UNIX systems. Configure and maintain TCP/IP stack on mainframe systems, ensuring optimal networking and communication between mainframe and external systems. Monitor and troubleshoot networking issues, ensuring seamless operation of TCP/IP services. Implement, configure, and optimize security standards in line with FIPS 140-2, ensuring encryption and key management protocols comply with federal regulations. Work closely with internal teams to manage secure data exchange, ensuring compliance with FIPS 140-2 security standards. Provide expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution for UNIX system and TCP/IP-related issues. Regularly assess system security, recommend improvements, and implement patches or updates. Design and implement disaster recovery and backup strategies for UNIX services and networking configurations. Collaborate with application and systems development teams to ensure that networking and security standards are adhered to. Conduct audits and documentation to support compliance and security certifications, particularly related to FIPS 140-2. Assist in the preparation of reports and technical documentation related to system performance, network operations, and compliance. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 8+ years of experience working with IBM z/OS UNIX System Services (USS) in a mainframe environment. Strong hands-on experience with IBM z/OS TCP/IP stack and related networking services (e.g., FTP, SSH, HTTP). In-depth knowledge and experience in FIPS 140-2 cryptographic standards and their application on mainframe systems. Familiarity with key management systems and encryption protocols on mainframe platforms. Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving system and network issues in a mainframe UNIX environment. Strong understanding of mainframe security policies, including access controls, user authentication, and encryption. Experience with tools such as z/OS Communications Server, z/OS Network File System (NFS), and other related z/OS products. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team to resolve complex technical issues. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with FIPS 140-2 certification processes and auditing. Knowledge of other mainframe-related security standards such as HIPAA, PCI DSS, and SOX. Familiarity with performance monitoring tools and capacity planning for mainframe UNIX environments. Certification in z/OS or related UNIX systems is a plus (e.g., IBM Certified Specialist, Linux+).
