Job Description - Job Title: TECHNICAL NETWORK MANAGER DURATION: 6 month contract to hire , Onsite Location : Tupelo, MS ABOUT Our client is seeking a Network Manager to lead a small IT team responsible for maintaining and optimizing the city's critical IT infrastructure. This is a hands-on management role requiring both technical expertise and strong leadership skills to support the organization's networking, security, and infrastructure needs. The ideal candidate will balance technical acumen with a business-oriented mindset to align IT solutions with our client's operational objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide hands-on technical leadership and management for the IT team. Oversee networking, security, and infrastructure operations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Collaborate with city stakeholders and department heads to align IT strategies with business needs. Manage and maintain Cisco networking equipment, VPNs, firewalls, and Axiom camera surveillance systems. Oversee VMware environments to support the IT infrastructure. Ensure compliance with security best practices and government IT regulations. REQUIRED SKILLS Architect-level knowledge to work with vendors and in-house stakeholders to design and support multi-site IT infrastructure solutions. Strong networking expertise, including Cisco routers, firewalls, and VPNs. Must have a working knowledge of macro networking concepts for the above as well as SD-WAN solutions. Experience managing Axiom camera surveillance systems. Hands-on experience with VMware including creation/installation of VMs running MS Windows, migration through vMotion techniques (both VM and storage), ESX and client OS patching and upgrades, as well as monitoring for performance and security. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize network security and IT infrastructure. Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management abilities, with a proven track record of collaborating effectively across various departments. Skilled in conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proficient in crafting and/or assisting in the development of formal proposals for securing in-house funding and Federal/State/Local grants.
