All details for this role are below. We are actively working with our client to present candidates for an engagement starting in early April and going through 6+ months. This candidate will be part of a team and not required to be an expert/ SME. Required qualifications below. Scope of work Developing new computer vision models from scratch, providing maintenance and enhancements to existing computer vision models Evaluating, adapting, and integrating publicly available (external) computer vision models Bridging insights from AI-driven models to end-users without requiring deep business engagement. Required & Preferred Skills Mandatory Requirements Must have sound experience in computer vision modeling Must have excellent Python programming skills, including experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV). Experience with cloud-based machine learning development, including model training, deployment, and pipeline management. Proficiency in feature engineering, model evaluation, and optimization techniques. Ability to work autonomously in a research-driven environment, without extensive documentation or structured handovers. Experience in structuring complex problems and building scalable, reproducible models. Ability to communicate technical findings effectively to non-data science users (e.g., end-users of model outputs). Flexible / Preferred Skills Hands-on experience in computer vision modeling, including training, optimizing, and deploying models. AWS-based ML experience (must be: SageMaker, S3, GroundTruth). Machine Learning Pipelines (MLOps) experience is useful but not mandatory, as customer has dedicated MLOps support. Some data engineering skills (ETL, working with large datasets) will be beneficial, but there are supporting team members for this. Utility industry experience is a plus but not a requirement. Prior experience integrating and adapting external AI models (e.g., from other utilities) would be beneficial. Experience in applied AI within an enterprise environment is required. Work Environment & Logistics Role is remote-friendly, but candidates must be on west coast (San Fran) and available to work in PST hours. Target start date: Late March 2025 (subject to budget approvals). Initial contract duration: 24 months (aligning with EPIC project timelines).
