All work products resulting from the project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the property of the Railroad Commission of Texas. The Commission may require pre-selection criminal background checks, as authorized by Texas law. Please note, the Railroad Commission of Texas will not pay any fees for interviews or discussions that occur during the selection process. Primary Responsibilities: Technical Leadership & Guidance : Provide leadership and guidance to the mainframe IMS application teams. Collaborate with the Mainframe Systems teams to ensure the availability and performance of IMS applications across all environments (development, acceptance, and production). Database Administration : As a DBA, conduct performance monitoring, tuning, backup, and recovery activities. Troubleshoot IMS database-related application issues. Routine System Administration : Monitor and maintain system security and performance, ensuring the smooth operation of the mainframe systems. Collaboration & Support : Support mainframe operations, working with various teams including Network Administration, Customer Support, and Application Development & Support teams. Expert Support : Apply expert knowledge of IMS databases to support both Legacy Systems and the Mainframe Transformation Team. Key Responsibilities: Administer Mainframe IMS Databases : Conduct performance monitoring, tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting on IMS databases. Use DBRC/RECONS and List reports proficiently. Perform DBRC forward recoveries and select valid recovery points. Modify and maintain IMS database descriptions and re-organize records as necessary. Monitor and optimize IMS database performance. Application Support : Provide support for IMS database-related application issues. Assist application programmers with DBRC issues in the test environment and resolve DBRC-related abends in production. Refresh Dev/Test databases with production backup images as needed. System Administration & Coordination : Maintain Mainframe Operating Systems Administration. Coordinate the testing of mainframe software upgrades and disaster recovery plans with the DCS vendor. Assist with problem management, change management, and ensure compliance with DCS vendor standards. Review and test mainframe disaster recovery plans with the DCS contractor. Mainframe Job Scheduling & Technical Support : Maintain and provide technical support for Mainframe Production Control and Support Jobs, as well as the monthly Mainframe Job Scheduler. Create and maintain procedures for agency application deployments and expand application environments during development. Provide after-hour support for nightly batch COBOL and JCL programs on the Mainframe schedule.
