This role is responsible for managing and assisting in the migration of multiple related sites of the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) flagship website, which consists of over 3,000 pages. The Web Administrator collaborates closely with the IT Web Services team and serves as the primary liaison between the Communications Division and IT Web Services. This position ensures the seamless transition of web content and functionality while maintaining high accessibility and web standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the Drupal content management system (CMS), strong web design skills, and a deep understanding of accessibility standards. The Web Administrator works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the planning and execution of multiple related website migrations, ensuring content is current, functional, accessible, and user-friendly. Collaborate with the IT Web Services team to optimize website performance, speed, reliability, and scalability. Test code, designs, and content for validity and compatibility across various browsers and devices. Monitor website analytics and performance metrics to identify and resolve issues. Serve as the main point of contact between the Communications Division and the IT Web Services team, translating technical requirements into clear communication strategies. Coordinate and assist web contributors with the implementation of new content, updates, and enhancements to website infrastructure, functionality, and design. Ensure the successful transition of web content and functionality in collaboration with content managers. Troubleshoot issues that arise during the migration process, providing timely resolutions. Maintain and update website content, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all related sites. Implement best practices for website performance, security, and SEO. Administer and update content using Drupal CMS, adhering to best practices for content creation, navigation, governance, and quality control. Provide support and guidance to content contributors across various offices and division departments. Ensure compliance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 AA and other accessibility standards. Collaborate with IT Web Services to address accessibility issues and implement best practices for design and development. Provide accessibility assistance and support with remediation for presentations, documents, websites, forms, and other digital formats. Candidate Skills and Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: 7 years of experience in web administration and web design, with significant exposure to managing large-scale websites. 7 years of proven experience with Drupal CMS, including content creation, taxonomy, and navigation. 7 years of experience with user-centered design principles, front-end web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and back-end integration. 7 years of experience in web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and hands-on remediation of accessibility issues. 7 years of experience implementing SEO best practices and website performance optimization techniques. 7 years of experience with responsive design principles and mobile-first strategies. 7 years of ability to translate technical language into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams. Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences. Familiarity with preparing user documentation, specification requirements, and UX artifacts. Ability to keep up with emerging web technologies, trends, and standards.
