We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer on a long-term contract basis for a well-known Portsmouth, NH client. This role will bring leadership experience and a passion for design and development of backend services as part of a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in scalable, cloud-native, distributed systems and software development, with exposure and interest in leading development teams. This is a hybrid work environment that requires 3 days onsite. The position comes with a competitive hourly rate and health insurance options. Candidates must be commutable to Portsmouth, NH as an in-person interview is required. Responsibilities Writing clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code Develop and support software including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements Work closely with development team in expansion of cloud service offerings using AWS Bring fresh eyes to assess current development efforts and suggest improvements. Contribute to debugging of issues in a complex technical stack Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure project meets business objectives and compliance standards Support test and deployment of new products and features Participate in code reviews and provide feedback and coaching to other engineers Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a technical field of study and 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong experience with back-end Javascript/Typescript development using frameworks like Node. Exposure to React or other UI frameworks is nice to have. Experienced with developing REST APIs, including troubleshooting and resolving issues by debugging code, analyzing logs, and writing, testing, and deploying fixes. Strong knowledge of AWS services, ideally including serverless technologies i.e. Lambda, API Gateway, CDK, etc. Fluency with Linux command-line environments, including proficiency with bash scripting, command-line tools, and analyzing log files to diagnose and resolve server-side issues. Ability to write accurate and comprehensive documentation of issues encountered and resolutions implemented. Solid problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions. Technica leader who can mentor and develop other engineers and improve development processes. Highly proficient written and verbal communication skills.
