Additional responsibilities will include creating detailed specification documents. Ensuring a robust and reliable Open Engine application in a UNIX/AIX environment; coordinating and executing test plans; automating processes using software tools and scripts; and managing system enhancements and upgrades. Extensive experience with Cerners suite of products. JOB DUTIES: {List in order of importance) 1. Ability to work independently and determine work priorities. 2. Possesses a large knowledge of institutional and departmental systems and processes, both automated and manual, and understands how data flows between the systems and uses this knowledge to improve these systems 'or develop new systems. 3. Utilizes a combination of programming and analytical skills to design and maintain application systems within the Health System_ 4. Confers with users to analyze system needs. 5. Evaluates alternatives and design specifications. 6. Conducts feasibility studies. 7. Exercises wide latitude ln choosing the best design to meet user's needs. 8. Defines project time lines and works independently to ensure deadlines are met. 9. Supervises and evaluates work of lower level programmers and analysts. 10. Designs, develops, maintains and enhances complex computer programs using multiple data file and database structures and integrated systems. 11. Performs functions of a project manager and directs, monitors, and evaluates lower level staff when appropriate. 12. Evaluates hardware and software alternatives and exercises a wide latitude in choosing optimum solutions. 13. May also meet with administrators and departmental managers to determine user needs. 14. Develops change management processes with the user community or with software vendors. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Able to program in Java extensively and with strong Oracle 9i/PL SQL experience 2. At least 5-7+ years experience programming interface engines in HL7. EDUCATION: 1. To be competitive applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or/and extensive experience in programming and system design or considerable experience with hospital processes relating to automated computer systems. 2.
