The Solution Architect will play a critical role in architecting systems that meet the needs of large-scale development and migration projects, particularly within Department of Education (DOE) environments or similar public sector data landscapes. The ideal candidate will guide the development team by designing and enforcing best practices across applications, database, and infrastructure layersensuring reliable data integration and accessibility across various DOE data stores. RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and implement end-to-end web and database solutions using modern tools and frameworks including .NET, SQL Server, Angular, and Cloud platforms (Azure/AWS). Develop and execute data strategies, architectural patterns, and technical models to enable efficient data storage, access, migration, and security. Identify and define information flows, integration points, and system interfaces between diverse DOE data systems. Lead architectural decision-making processes, including solution evaluations, proof of concepts (POCs), and technical roadmaps. Monitor solution performance and provide architectural guidance to ensure project scalability, maintainability, and security compliance. Provide leadership and mentorship to development and infrastructure teams throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to define project goals and align architecture strategies with business requirements. Lead efforts in data migration, legacy system modernization, and integration of disparate data sources. Maintain architecture documentation, design artifacts, and development standards. Ensure all solutions comply with industry and DOE-specific data governance, security, and accessibility standards. REQUIRED SKILLS Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 8+ years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise software development, or system design. Proven experience with: o SQL Server (database design, optimization, data modeling) o .NET / .NET Core (web API and backend service design) o Angular (UI development and frontend architecture) o Cloud platforms (preferably Azure, but AWS/GCP considered) Demonstrated success leading large-scale development and migration projects, ideally in public sector or enterprise environments. Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems. Expertise in data integration strategies, including ETL, API-driven integration, and messaging queues. Familiarity with security, compliance, and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, NIST, FERPA). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work across technical and non-technical teams to drive consensus and technical clarity. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, MCSD, or equivalent certifications. Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Familiarity with data warehousing and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, SSIS, Azure Data Factory).
