Job Title : AWS Database Engineer/Administrator Job Location : Hybrid (New York, NY) Position Type : Right to Hire Visa: No H1B, CPT 15+ exp profiles Role highlights Currently, 50% DB Admin vs. 50% DB Engineering. After automation that the candidate will work on, the Engineering % will increase. Candidate will work very closely with the existing SQL Server/MySQL DBA who doesnt have very strong AWS schools, thus important for candidate to have experience in AWS AWS and On-Prem tech stack: existing SQL Server and MySQL platforms on AWS but there is also an on-prem SQL cluster. Candidate will help to automate some of the common requests that come in (e..g., DB scripts for refreshing production data to staging db) Optimization of SQL code/ Performance optimization is important as well Hybrid environment 1) MYSQL AWS Aurora in cloud and 2) One SQL cluster in DC - image, capacity, DB back ups, etc. Required Skills : At least 5+ years of hands-on experience in a database administration and support role. At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in AWS environment. In-depth understanding of cloud database design principles and best practices within AWS Proficiency in writing complex SQL and at least one scripting language (Python, Power, etc). Exceptional knowledge of SQL Server, Aurora MySQL, AWS RDS, AWS Console, S3, DMS, AWS CLI, and CloudWatch. Strong understanding of AWS technologies. Participate in on-call rotation, ensuring round-the-clock, year-round incident and outage response Participate in rotation that includes working outside regular business hours for code deployments, system changes, and other critical operations. Process all support requests within SLA by following procedural requirements. Perform initial investigation and troubleshooting of database issues to resolve issues and determine root causes. Monitor cloud resource usage and costs, and implement strategies for cost optimization without compromising performance or security. Operate in a hybrid work setting, with an expectation to be onsite at our NYC office for 2 days per week and remotely for the remaining days. Preferred Skills : Knowledge of Active Batch is a plus AWS certifications are a plus Experience in migrating data and code from SQL Server to MySQL. Experience with automation and monitoring within AWS. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
