In this pivotal role, you will support our Machine Translation (MT) and Large Language Model (LLM) programs by building and fine-tune the models, perform evaluations and drive technical programs and writing codes by focusing on enhancing translation quality while ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness. Your technical expertise and commitment to quality will guide research into the most promising MT and LLM models, ensuring they meet the needs of both our internal and external clients. Working closely with the Localization (L10n) team, cross-functional teams within Uber, vendors, and MLOps/LLMOps specialists, as well as external clients, you will lead the development of in-house Machine Translation and LLM models. These models are set to transform how we support our teams globally, in alignment with our commitment to excellence in localization and international communication. What Youll Do ML Development and Execution: Design and implement comprehensive MT and LLM programs that serve both Uber's internal operations and external clients. These programs enable building the bridge global communication and localization strategies effectively. Model Selection and Evaluation: Work closely with Localization Technology (LocTech) team, and ML/LLM/AI engineers to select, evaluate, analyze, train, and deploy the most effective MT and LLM models. Your goal will be to customize the models to both internal and external clients. Stakeholder Management: Over time, develop and maintain key relationships with stakeholders reliant on MT and/or LLM for their translations.
