Within SMO, the Cirrus team is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) in data science. This role will involve analyzing large datasets, developing predictive models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decisions in mobility and IoT solutions. Senior Data Scientist to be the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) in data science, building and guiding a new function with two main goals within the organization: Transportation: Focus on DOT/Public Safety, enhancing Google Maps features, and implementing priority light changes for accidents. Energy: Lead efforts in electrification fleet management and oversee charging station operations. Key Skills: Leadership experience with a focus on mentoring and guiding the team. Strong in predictive and diagnostic work, with the ability to execute tactically and align with business objectives. Independent, proactive, and capable of identifying and initiating projects. Build out data tools, operations, and deployment (not a data engineer role). Expertise in building data models and AI. Tech Skills: SQL, Python, AWS, Azure, GCP, Pisport (NO Java). Experience handling large datasets (100 terabytes+). Note: This position is not focused on data cleaning or ETL, as those tasks are handled by an existing team. Key Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end data science projects, establishing best practices and methodologies. Design and implement advanced models and algorithms to solve mobility-related challenges, including IoT data applications. Analyze structured and unstructured datasets using Python and SQL to extract actionable insights. Partner with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to integrate data-driven solutions into products. Drive thought leadership, including publications, patents, and insights within the industry. Mentor team members and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Deploy machine learning models in production environments and present findings to stakeholders effectively. This is W2 Role Qualifications: 10+ years of data science experience, including leadership of complex projects. Expertise in Python (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, SciPy) and SQL. Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms, and infrastructure as code concepts (e.g., Terraform). Experience with Snowflake, data visualization tools like Apache Superset, and machine learning implementation. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain data insights to non-technical stakeholders. Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
