About the
Role:
As a Senior
Level Database Engineer at my client, that is a fintech. You will play a
crucial role in architecting, implementing, and maintaining their database
systems. You will oversee the database infrastructure, ensuring performance,
security, scalability, and reliability, while guiding and mentoring junior team
members. You will collaborate closely with their software development, IT, and
data analytics teams to support data-driven decision-making across the
organization.

What does a great Database engineer do
A top-notch database engineer can design and
construct efficient database schemas and work closely with the development team
to provide necessary database queries and objects based on software
requirements. They also assist in troubleshooting performance issues and
database blockages, understanding the importance and criticality of client
agreements. Additionally, they should have a passion for problem-solving, both
independently and within a team, and possess excellent written and verbal
communication skills in English.

How you will provide meaningful
contributions:

Participate
in requirements analysis.

Architect,
design, and deploy complex database systems to meet application
requirements.

Ensure
high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery planning for database
systems.

Optimize
database performance, conduct advanced troubleshooting, and resolve issues
to minimize downtime.

Implement
and enforce data security best practices and compliance requirements.

Lead
design and implementation of data warehouses, and ETL processes.

Develop
and optimize complex queries, stored procedures, and database scripts.

Collaborate
with developers to integrate databases with applications, ensuring
seamless operation.

Perform
capacity planning, scaling strategies, and performance tuning for
large-scale database environments.

Provide
technical guidance and mentorship to junior database engineers.

Create,
update, and maintain detailed documentation for database configurations,
processes, and procedures.

Stay
informed of industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending
improvements and innovations.

Basic
Qualifications and Skills for Consideration:

Bachelor's
degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

7+
years of experience in database engineering, with expertise in both
relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

Deep
knowledge of SQL, database design, data modeling, and normalization.

Proven
track record in designing and implementing large-scale data architectures.

Experience
with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting complex
database issues.

Strong
understanding of data security best practices and compliance standards.

Familiarity
with scripting languages and automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash).

Knowledge
of DevOps practices and tools related to database operations.

Certifications
in database technology are a plus (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional,
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator).

Excellent
problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under
pressure.

Strong
leadership, mentorship, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills / Experience

Excellent
troubleshooting and communication skills

Experience
working with international and remote teams.

Good
background in cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud
SQL, Azure SQL Database).

Proficiency
in data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data integration.

Experience
providing support in troubleshooting issues in live environments.

working with applications in the financial domain.
