Job Description - Job Title : Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer for a Microsoft Fabric Implementation Job Type : Contract Contract Duration : Approximately 2-3 months Worksite Location : Fully Remote Candidates must have some experience implementing Fabric, being tied to Infrastructure/Networking/Security. Must have 10+ years of experience. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to assist with efforts of a Microsoft Fabric implementation for our client, a healthcare organization handling PHI data. Project Overview Our client initially built their data warehouse in AWS using Redshift, but performance challenges led them to migrate to Azure. However, their implementation using Synapse Analytics has resulted in performance issues and cost inefficiencies. After evaluating next-generation solutions, they have decided to implement Microsoft Fabric, a Spark-based platform, as a net-new solution. The Client has an Azure Data Architect / Fabric SME that is running point, and looking for a hands-on Sr. Azure Infrastructure Engineer to help in determining the best area of the network to deploy the Fabric Capacity and secure it, etc. Additional Job Scope for the Azure Infrastructure Engineer with Microsoft Fabric implementation experience includes: Determine the best are of the network to deploy the Fabric Capacity and secure it. Understand Entra ID Conditional Access Polices and can plan and configure the access groups to be able to access Fabric resources as we discussed as option 2 in our meeting last week. Be able to have visibility into the USAP Azure cloud and On-prem network setup and configuration and be able to make changes to support the Fabric deployment. Be able to deploy the necessary services in azure and on prem to support Fabrics ability to gain access to Azure cloud and On-prem data sources. Items such as: Fabric on prem data gateway Fabric virtual network data gateway Private endpoint connections between fabric workspaces that contain data objects and source data systems such as the EDW and other Databases and Storage accounts that hold data that will be pull into the Fabric data platform. Role & Responsibilities Ensuring seamless integration with SQL Server while addressing performance and security considerations. Implementing certificate-based authentication to securely connect to the end client. Defining and enforcing access policies to maintain compliance and data protection. Minimizing the need for interaction with the clients data team by driving progress autonomously. Facilitating data access via public access to eliminate the need for VPN connections and end points. Facilitating Power BI integrations for data reporting and analysis. Ensuring the initial implementation is completed within approximately two months, as this project is sponsored by the CEO. Required Qualifications Experience implementing Microsoft Fabric in an enterprise environment. Expertise in Azure Infrastructure, Networking, and Security. Strong knowledge of PHI data protection, compliance, and security protocols. Experience with certificate-based authentication and access policy management. Ability to operate independently, driving the project forward with minimal oversight.
