Key responsibilities of a business analyst in risk and regulatory reporting:o Gathering and analyzing data: Collecting data from various sources within the organization, including trading systems, risk management platforms, and accounting systems, to generate accurate regulatory reports.o Regulatory compliance: Staying updated on evolving regulatory requirements and ensuring the companys reporting practices adhere to relevant regulations like Basel III, Dodd-Frank, and local regulations.o Requirement gathering: Identifying and documenting business requirements for regulatory reporting systems, including data quality standards, reporting formats, and deadlines.o Process improvement: Analyzing existing reporting processes to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements, such as automating manual tasks or streamlining data flows.o Risk assessment: Evaluating potential risks associated with regulatory reporting, including data accuracy, timeliness, and compliance issues.o Stakeholder management: Collaborating with different teams within the organization, including finance, risk management, compliance, IT, and business lines, to ensure smooth reporting processes.o Report generation and validation: Producing regulatory reports, performing data quality checks, and reconciling discrepancies to ensure accuracy and completeness.o System implementation: Working with IT teams to implement new reporting systems or upgrades to existing systems, including testing and user acceptance.
