The consultant will collaborate closely with infrastructure teams (CICS, Systems Programming, Db2, etc.) and business-aligned technologists to provide advanced RACF engineering solutions. This role involves technical leadership, project execution, and coaching team members. Off-hours availability may be required for implementations. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Security Architecture, RACF Engineering, and Policy teams to deliver technical solutions aligned with best security practices. Provide RACF engineering support for mainframe security products and projects. Design and assess the technical feasibility of security initiatives including authentication (Kerberos, Digital Certificates, encryption, MFA), authorization (role-based access, privileged access), and automation (tooling, reports, utilities, batch processes). Engage with infrastructure and application technology teams, business users, and auditors to ensure compliance and support. Monitor key performance indicators and recommend proactive improvements. Provide coaching and technical guidance to RACF team members. Participate in addressing inquiries or issues related to mainframe security best practices. Required Qualifications: 10+ years of relevant experience as a RACF Engineer or Administrator Advanced expertise in IBM RACF and IBM ZSecure (focus on configuration/internals) Proficient in JCL, REXX, and CarLa programming Strong working knowledge of z/OS utilities and tools (e.g., TSO, ISPF, SDSF) Familiarity with database technologies such as Sybase, DB2, and SQL Experience with implementing digital certificates, encryption, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) Comprehensive understanding of z/OS environments: Systems Programming, Storage, Networks, Unix Services, CICS, DB2, Performance Tuning, and related tooling Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Strong team player with a commitment to inclusivity and collaboration Additional Information: This is a fully remote position, but the candidate must be US-based. The consultant may be asked to provide support during off-hours for project-related implementations.
