This role will focus on application development in Python, deployment on AWS, and supporting MLOps functions. The ideal candidate will have strong Python development experience (not scripting), a deep understanding of AWS cloud services, and exposure to data and ML pipelines. You will work closely with internal teams to optimize infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and implement application enhancements. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable cloud-native applications using Python and AWS Maintain and enhance ML models already in production, ensuring their stability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness Collaborate with architects, data scientists, DevOps, and business teams to understand requirements and pain points Support and troubleshoot production issues in AWS environments (Lambda, ECS, EC2, etc.) Write clean, modular, and reusable code following best practices Contribute to MLOps practices: deployment, monitoring, performance tuning, and cost optimization Conduct code reviews, technical sessions, and mentor junior developers Lead application-level design and resolve complex design issues Mandatory Skills & Qualifications Programming Expert in Python backend development (not just scripting) Good understanding of OOP, modular code, and performance best practices Cloud (AWS) Hands-on experience with a wide range of AWS services including: Compute : Lambda, EC2, ECS, Fargate Storage & Data : S3, EFS, DynamoDB, Snowflake, PostgreSQL Analytics & ML : Glue, Kinesis, CloudWatch, EventBridge Networking : VPC, Subnets, Security Groups, CIDR Security : IAM, WAF, Encryption, SSO, MFA DevOps & Monitoring : CloudFormation, CloudWatch, CodePipeline, CI/CD tools MLOps & Data Support for ML lifecycle: training, inference, deployment, monitoring Familiarity with ML concepts: hyperparameters, feedback loops, accuracy metrics Cost monitoring and optimization of ML workloads Architecture & Integration Event-driven and microservices design patterns REST APIs, batch/real-time integrations (sync/async) Understanding of Domain Driven Design and modular architecture Nice-to-Have Skills Frontend: Angular, React Scripting: /Unix scripting, batch jobs Big Data: Spark, Glue Observability tools: DataDog, CloudTrail, custom metrics/logging Key Soft Skills Strong communication skills both technical and non-technical stakeholders Product mindset ability to drive solutions end-to-end Independent problem-solving and proactive ownership Ability to prioritize and align tech efforts with business goals Mentorship and team leadership capabilities Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of software development experience, with recent focus on cloud and MLOps AWS certification (Developer, Solutions Architect) preferred Experience in agile development methodologies Background in enterprise applications and large-scale distributed systems Additional Info This is not a Data Engineer role. We are looking for a Python Developer who builds applications that support infrastructure and ML models. Must be local to Houston, TX. Onsite requirement is 4 days/week, with potential flexibility in the future.
