Job Description - Title: Senior F5 Engineer Location: Owing Mills (Fully ONSITE 5 x per week) Contract Length: 6 months+ with extensions up to 2 years Summary of Call with client F5/Cisco Engineer Role The role is a blend of F5 and Cisco skills. Clients team consists of eight people, with three currently working on the F5 product lineone top engineer and two improving. He needs an additional strong F5 resource, but the workload wont be full-time, so the ideal candidate should also have Cisco expertise. Most F5 engineers are Cisco-certified. He described this role as a Network Engineer that knows F5. Key Role Details: On-call rotation: Every 3rd week for the F5 team (minimal after-hours calls). Work schedule: On-site 5x per week in the Tech Center. Team structure: Approx. 25 Network Engineers across multiple managers, with Kirk as Harlans manager. Industry experience: Not a priority; more focused on skills. Certifications: Nice to have but not requiredexperience matters more. Conversion plans: Uncommon, hasnt seen a conversion in a while. Hiring Process: First round: 3060 min Zoom/Teams interview with a 34-person panel. Second round: On-site interview with 45 people. Overview: In this role, you will be responsible for the configuration, installation, administration, operation, upgrade, monitoring, maintenance, and support of data centers, networks, hardware, and software for both F5 and Cisco network equipment. This position necessitates a commitment of 40 hours per week, with an on-site presence required for five days a week at the Technology Center location and other client locations in Maryland as needed. Additionally, you will be on-call 24/7 every third week for F5 support, during which you must be available within 30 minutes of receiving a support call or X-matters request. F5 Engineer Job Description: Design and Implement: Analyze, design, implement, and maintain the network F5 Load Balancer infrastructure. Network: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and security protocols. F5 Technologies: Hands-on experience with BIG-IP LTM, GTM, APM, and ASM Troubleshooting: Inspect data packets and TCP/IP flow in network and application flow. Deploy, configure, and maintain F5 BIG-IP devices and virtual editions. Set up and manage load balancing, SSL offloading, and caching. Configure traffic management policies using i-Rules and F5 TMOS. Implement and maintain high availability (HA) setups. Knowledge Requirements: In-depth knowledge of protocols, designs, and configuration of data center and network infrastructure related to load balancing solutions. Cisco Network Job Description: Design and Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain networks that support business applications, including both internal and external networks. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and document networks, ensuring all new products are installed properly, configured correctly, and tested before being put into production. Security: Make decisions regarding security issues, such as protecting data and implementing encryption. Maintenance: Perform maintenance on equipment, such as replacing old routers or installing software patches. Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance to users and training to employees. Documentation: Document the operation of the companys network by writing reports and creating diagrams. Planning: Help plan upgrades to the companys network and work closely with other departments. Requirements Experience: Typically possesses 5+ years of relevant experience in F5 and Cisco network installation, upgrades, and maintenance. F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator (F5-CA) F5 Certified Technical Specialist (F5-CTS) -LTM or Security Certifications: Holds network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE. Technical Proficiency: Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the broader technology portfolio. Industry Awareness: Stays abreast of industry trends and technologies.
