Title: Equity Systems Connectivity Engineer (Senior candidates needed) This contract has an initial duration of six months with a likely extension Location is New York City (open to 100%remote, but local or hybrid is preferred) Visa : No H1B/CPT Local candidates preferred (likely video interview for now, but subject to change) This is for a foreign securities trading firm Key skills: FIX Major Responsibilities: Responsible for supporting connectivity requirements for the Equities Trading desk. Major responsibilities include: Setting up connectivity & on-boarding clients for Equity Trading platform using FIX and other similar protocols; Performing electronic trading connectivity, testing & certifications. Monitoring electronic trading systems and server side software to ensure systems are working correctly. Identifying, troubleshooting and responding to emergency situations impacting live trading. Working with the traders to understand & implement client connectivity requirements. Develop test plans for enhancements & new modules of vendor provided software. Work with users to certify enhancements. Escalating problems pro-actively and ensure all stakeholders are kept aware of issues and their development. Working with the vendor testing & deploying enhancements to the Equities trading systems. Creating and maintaining a knowledge base, support scripts, documentation and procedures. Supporting the applications that are used on trading desks. Required Qualifications: 2+ years IT support experience in the Equities electronic trading environment. 2+ years of experience in FIX, client connectivity and on-boarding clients. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer service orientation. Must be comfortable using standard UNIX utilities to debug, trace, and problem-solve. Very strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analysis skills. Knowledge of FIX messaging protocol and be able to conduct client testing. Experience with and understanding of databases. VB/Excel/Perl/Bash and/or other scripting experience. Understanding of trade and market data feeds. Experience working on a trading floor supporting mission critical applications Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong educational background with BS / MS in Computer Science, Engineering or related area. Other Qualifications: Familiarity with Java, ability to read code and make modifications is a plus.
