Technical skills, Strong PL/SQL, Snowflake( Snowpipe, tasks, Administration, snowpark etc ), Azure Data Factory, Azure Devops, Python, Azure Databricks (Optional) Strong data skills( we get a lot of data analysis questions for our Ops team so needs to be able to learn the table structures, subject areas quickly ) Reporting/PowerBI/ThoughtSpot, Python webapp frameworks like flask or streamlit ( these are good to have so team is independent in building Ops dashboards, automation , anything they need to do better in the Ops everyday) Data science background ( an interest would be great ,in readiness of supporting future production models) Domain knowledge: Some Retail background with a few team members may help but I would not make it mandatory Responsibilities: Administration, Suggest and enforce Snowflake security and governance improvements, automate administration tasks so we are complaint for Privacy or other regulatory mandates Monitor ETL jobs/Snowflake tasks/ADF and respond appropriately to job failures and suggest improvements Build out Ops monitoring, data quality , job dependency dashboards and publish key trends every week Participate in brainstorming sessions with the Dev team and help shape the future of our data organization (Data Engineering, Data Science and BI) Perform data analysis where there are questions from business related to a specific subject area Partner with other upstream or downstream teams in the data flow such that there is proactive monitoring on potential data issues Monitor our BI application thats store facing ( these jobs are very critical) and provide proactive communication to stakeholders on potential impact Participate in sessions with our Product teams ( Snowflake, Thoughtspot, Databricks, Microsoft Azure etc.) and bring those recommendations of best practices to life Develop frameworks for alerting, job-rerun automation or basically any other framework where the mundane pieces of Ops can be automated Azure DevOps Releases, facilitate with Dev team and actively participate in Prod release so they can anticipate failures and there by respond quicker.
