Position: Scrum Master

Location: Remote

Duration: 6+ Months

The Scrum Master role is a position within the Global Technology & Solutions Department responsible for owning the Agile Development process, coaching team members to fulfill their roles and responsibilities, and driving continuous improvement within the team.

This position will help facilitate writing of user stories, release and iteration planning, test driven development, continuous integration, Scrum stand-up meetings, velocity and capacity planning, and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement. The Scrum Master will work closely with team members from the Global Technology & Solutions department, as well as with other team members, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities for this role include:

         Making sure Scrum or Kanban is followed by the teams.

         Coaching individuals on roles and responsibilities to ensure understanding and eliminate confusion.

         Facilitating all ceremonies so that team members can collaborate. This includes all refinement activities through release planning.

         Collecting team efficiency metrics (velocity, burndowns, etc.), deriving action items from that data, and working with the team to put those in place.

         Organizing retrospectives and ensuring that the action items from these sessions are assigned and tracked to completion.

         Driving continuous improvement and innovation in all areas of the team.

         Gauging team morale and recommending ways to improve/prevent burnout.

         Creating, maintaining, and revisiting team agreements with the team. Definition of Done and Definition of Ready should be constantly evolving as the team evolves.

         Creating velocity charts, burndown charts, refinement pipeline.

         Determining retrospective next steps (Improvement, Owner, Acceptance Criteria, Timeline).

         Developing refinement process maps.

         Working with Agile coach to apply Team Morale metrics.

         Working with the dev team designing new services/features/capabilities on the platform.

         Working with business analysts and product owners/stakeholders to help clarify and organize acceptance criteria.

         Working with product owners/domain architects/program managers to help prioritize technical work items based on impact and helping them understand the implications of different underlying technical items.

         Work with QA to ensure appropriate test coverage, maintain test tooling and automate as much testing as possible to streamline delivery.

         Work with security and infrastructure teams to ensure we're aligning to standards and keeping things up to date and secure.

         Dive into code/infrastructure changes to help the team get things over the line during a sprint.

         Work with developers/architects on other teams to integrate data and services across the organization.

         Help the support team figure out and resolve technical user issues.

         Provide guidance on Agile and how to get the most out of the team each sprint.

         Lead the charge on implementing better and more effective delivery and operational automation.

         Work with scrum masters to prioritize backlog items in team sprint plans.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Description:

         Develops client relationships to strengthen business partnerships and drive change.

         Manages and executes the relevant Agile methodology and associated ceremonies.

         Applies organizational standards and agile best practices in support of the Agile Development Lifecycle (ADLC).

         Enforces quality standards to ensure work products being delivered align to client expectations.

         Mentors junior staff and agile team members to facilitate solution delivery.

         Facilitates communication between clients and development teams in support of product goals & objectives.

         Supervises the work of business analysts, data analysts, developers, and quality assurance analysts to maximize the quality and quantity of their output.

         Supports governance efforts in the areas of process, data, vendor and policy management through meeting management and planning activities.

Support, Training, and Change Management

         Manages and provides front-line support for technology supporting operations.

         Manages and tracks remediation of all defects and additional enhancement requests, prioritizing those for immediate action and adding the remainder to the backlog.

         Troubleshoots and resolves reporting related issues in close coordination with IT and business teams.

         Maintains project & training documentation, knowledge bases, job aids, webinars, and other materials in support of ongoing operations.

         Assists in training users on technology.

Community Participation

         Participates in Carlyles internal Communities of Practice to grow our Agile knowledgebase.

         Share best practices of whats working on their team, and solicits feedback on areas on improvement.

         Looks to drive further innovation through collaborating with all members of the Agile model.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and Experience

         Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, required

         Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills

         Experience managing stakeholder relationships

         Experience managing meetings, directing working groups, maintaining delivery roadmaps, tracking, and reporting on project delivery, and providing status updates

         Strong interpersonal skills (written and oral) and ability to work across multiple teams

         Strong organization skills: detail-oriented, efficient, and diligent

         Ability to understand and articulate business needs (from various sources) and verbally communicate to those with and without a technology background

         Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment and balance multiple tasks

         High integrity and must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information

Education and Certifications

         Bachelors Degree, required 

         Major in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems/Technology, preferred

         Agile Scrum Master (CSM), preferred

Position-specific Technical Requirements

         Certified Scrum Master; advanced experienced leading Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

         Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) knowledge.

         Experience with Business Process Mapping and Requirements elicitation. 

         Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
