Position Summary:

The Sr. DevOps System Reliability Engineer provides expertise, mentoring & leadership in the areas of application server installation, upgrades, patches, tuning, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, application deployments, container management, support and documentation of standards, environments and procedures for the administration of all supported environments, in close collaboration with project Development resources.

Essential Duties:

Creative/development/independent judgment responsibilities

Serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the applications supported, and a point of further escalation for non-routine P1/P2 issues
Responsible for managing and reporting on all major team deliverables, including projects assigned to more junior staff on projects specific to the task that the Sr Engineer is assigned
Responsible for identifying, proposing to management, and implementing process improvements around automation and service stability, including infrastructure configuration and stability
Responsible for technically managing project initiatives related to supported applications
Creates and maintains system documentation including troubleshooting guides, support processes, and break-fix procedures based on lessons learned in resolving non-routine escalations; communicate this information to the team.

Administrative/Routine responsibilities

Participate in application deployments and approved changes into the environment in accordance with corporate change policy standards
Participate in optimization efforts related to application performance and tuning application server components, including identifying and implementing process automation
Coordinate w/ direct Manager, Development Manager, and Project PM in reporting defects discovered during support
Facilitate the shutdown, recovery and testing of all impacted applications during Operating System patching cycles.
Assist with application administration and user provisioning as required, or when these tasks cannot be delegated without introducing stability issues within the supported solution
Participate in after-hours support for assistance in production recovery or time sensitive changes, which can only occur outside of standard business hours.
Required to travel off-site for up to 10% of overall work time.
Responsible for adhering to established safety standards
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
Occasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves items weighing up to 25 pounds
Work is constantly performed in a remote office environment
Performs other duties as assigned by management. 

Position Requirements:

Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree; or 6 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience
AWS Cloud Practitioner certification required or ability to obtain certification within a short period
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel as a team lead
The preferred candidate would have technical depth and hands-on support experience in the areas of ASP, IIS, .Net, SQLServer, SSRS/SSIS, SOAP, IBM MQ, GIT, SVN, and Jenkins, but with more of a view towards Technical Operations and Support along the lines of the SRE DevOps model, and Environment Configuration, with multiple vendors and protocols.
Experience with MoveIt, and file transfer automation strongly preferred
User level experience in using and maintaining Power scripts and AWS CLI scripting to automate system tasks
User level experience with Puppet/Ansible or equivalent technologies
Awareness of architectural elements required to support large installations and maintain high availability such as clustering, and load balancing with respect to above listed applications
Able to work in fast paced environments and have awareness of programming environments
Proactive, can-do attitude whose actions work toward continuous process improvement
Good analytical, troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, collaborative and mentoring skills
Good troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
Must be able to write effective technical documents and reports as a primary focus of daily duties
Excellent communication ability (verbal, written, and presentation) and an effective team player, with a very strong customer service orientation
Experience supporting all phases of the system development life cycle including development, testing, QA and production.
Must exercise effective judgment and follow established procedures in support of production, 24x7, and other critical environments
Relevant industry certifications (.Net, IIS, MCSE, Application Server, Database) preferred
Knowledge of .Net Core helpful
Strong experience in a multi-disciplined team is critical with the ability to clearly communicate complex technology solutions. Must have documented experience working in DevOps, SaaS, and Cloud environments with an understanding of the concepts and development of Highly Scalable Distributed Systems. 
Experience with Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) and Medicaid Provider Management Systems is a plus
Experience leading application deployments including the coordination of database changes and application configurations
Use of deployment technologies including Docker / Containers / Kubernetes
Experience implementing Private and Public cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud
Contribute as needed to the daily operations of the team
Ensure processes are followed for creating consistent, verifiable, automatic management of application and infrastructure between environments.
Provide coordination between project teams and support groups including systems, networking, and database administration.\\
Participate in client-facing engagements to provide technical guidance and support.
Build industry expertise preferred\\
Medicaid Provider Management business processes, policies, and the systems that support them.
CMS requirements for the management of Medicaid Providers and designs enhancements to meet these requirements.
HIPAA security requirements and implications for the platform.
