As a Senior Systems Engineer within, this role:

Identifies, designs, and deploys technology and process solutions that enable key business capabilities.

Maintains deep technical expertise within the domain and translates that knowledge into design and implementation for complex infrastructure environments.

Focuses on incident resolution and proactive patching of hardware and software assets across the Global Technology footprint.

Partners with other Systems Engineers to consult on solution design and implementation.

Balances production support responsibilities with design and implementation execution.

Stays current with industry changes and emerging technologies within the domain.

Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Production Support

Provide 24/7 global support of critical systems in a rotating on-call environment.

Serve as an escalation point in incident resolution, leveraging predefined work instructions for issue remediation.

Lead root cause analysis investigations for incidents.

Act as an escalation point for provisioning scripts requiring correction and/or consult on fulfillment methodologies relevant to the domain.

Engage vendors as needed on complex domain-related incidents.

Create and Maintain Systems Documentation

Update knowledge base and/or support wiki articles when new processes are identified (with review by senior staff).

Perform troubleshooting, audits, and system health queries using custom scripts or performance monitoring software.

Provide consultation in crafting user guides, job aides, and training materials.

Support training efforts for other team members.

Systems Lifecycle Management

Assist in scoping, testing, and validating patching and updates for operating systems, firmware, and software components.

Coordinate hardware replacements when necessary.

Provide guidance on urgent bug fixes or critical updates and assist in coordination and implementation.

Create, Maintain, and Report KPIs

Assist in gathering metrics and reporting, with guidance from management and/or senior staff.

Help identify and prioritize remediation efforts for recurring issues.

Support ad hoc reporting, including trend analysis of recurring incident types.

Collaboration

Collaborate with other technical service teams to manage, maintain, and resolve complex IT service issues.

Partner with peers to resolve cross-domain infrastructure challenges.

Technical Service Ownership

Act as an escalation point within the domain for complex technical issues.
