This is a technical leadership rolenot a people management role. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical go-to resource, influencing architecture decisions while actively contributing code. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture Lead the design and delivery of medium to large-scale software initiatives from concept through production. Architect scalable and resilient distributed systems using Java-based frameworks and cloud infrastructure. Champion engineering best practices including code quality, testing, documentation, and observability. Guide teams through complex design decisions and trade-offs. Mentorship & Engineering Excellence Mentor engineers across teams and experience levels. Provide actionable feedback through code reviews and design discussions. Foster a collaborative, inclusive engineering culture. Model strong technical communication and problem-solving skills. Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with product and business teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions. Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Drive initiatives to improve system reliability and developer productivity. Hands-On Development Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot. Build distributed, event-driven systems using Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, or similar technologies. Write clean, testable code with strong unit, integration, and performance test coverage. Participate in incident response and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 7 years of professional software development experience. Minimum 5+ years of Java development experience. Strong expertise in: Java and object-oriented design principles Design patterns and UML Distributed systems and service-oriented architectures Spring IoC and Spring Boot Maven RESTful and SOAP-based web services Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop, etc.) Required Experience working in Linux/UNIX environments Experience with CI/CD pipelines Strong initiative and ability to work independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience designing and operating microservices at scale Experience with Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, or other data-intensive systems Experience with AWS (Snowflake is a plus) Experience with AI tools or frameworks used to enhance software development Background working in regulated or mission-driven organizations Important Notes Must have 7+ years total experience with 5+ years in Java. Must have Java and NoSQL database experience. This is not a people management role despite the Lead title. No frequent job changers preference for stable career history.
