This role is critical in driving technical strategy, influencing cross-functional teams, and delivering business-critical SaaS and cloud-based solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Java/Spring, microservices, cloud infrastructure (AWS), Kubernetes, and event-driven architectures, with experience building large-scale distributed systems. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Architecture Define and execute technical strategy for large-scale and complex systems. Drive architecture, design, prototyping, and implementation aligned with product and enterprise technology strategy. Lead backlog planning and oversee execution through production delivery. Guide and mentor engineering teams across functional areas. Represent engineering in cross-functional discussions and influence stakeholders. Development & Engineering Design and develop scalable distributed systems and microservices. Build and maintain high-performance SaaS and cloud-based applications. Implement event-driven architectures using messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub). Ensure quality through robust testing, CI/CD, and secure coding practices. Own long-term health of features and surrounding systems. Troubleshoot and resolve production and infrastructure issues. Cloud & Infrastructure Focus (If Applicable) Lead Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using Terraform and Ansible. Architect Kubernetes-based containerized systems (EKS, ECS, TKGi). Design robust, secure, and observable AWS cloud environments. Automate AWS services (EC2, IAM, ELB, Route53, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation, DynamoDB). Build scalable CI/CD and workflow pipelines. Improve usability and developer experience of infrastructure platforms. Support monitoring, alerting, and operational excellence. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (MS or PhD preferred). 10+ years of overall experience in software engineering. 7+ years building distributed systems, SaaS, cloud solutions, and microservices. 6+ years hands-on experience with Java and Spring Framework. Strong experience with Maven/Gradle. Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with AWS (or Azure/GCP). Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.). 2+ years of front-end development experience (Angular or React). Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies. Experience delivering business-critical systems to market. Preferred Qualifications Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure). Experience with monitoring tools (AppDynamics). Knowledge of real-time payment networks (RTP, FedNow). ACH/EFT knowledge. FinTech industry experience. Additional programming exposure (C#, Python, Ruby, PHP). JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, jQuery). Additional Requirements Local candidates only (Chicago or Scottsdale).
