Required Qualifications: A minimum of 7 years of experience with a deep understanding of AS/400 application development. At least 5 years of application development experience in RPG, RPGLE, and CL; Synon2/E (also known as COOL 2/E). 5+ years of experience with IBMi SQL. 5+ years of recent experience in a leadership role. Proficiency in IBM X-analysis, ALDON, and Hawkeye. Experience with RxClaim or other PBM Adjudication systems Proven track record of successfully completing several mediums to large scope projects. Proficiency in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and adept at problem determination and resolution through research and fact-finding. Preferred Qualifications: Roles sought: 12 technical hires focused on modernizing a claims system (RxClaim/PBM/Rx ecosystem). Core technical must-haves: ILE RPG, free-format RPG, Synon (Cool/2E) knowledge. Important complementary skills: CL/Control Language, SQL/iSeries concepts (able to design and query DBs, not necessarily be a DBA). Desired attributes: solution-oriented, system/architecture design, performance-minded, simplicity/configurability/maintainability, scalability thinking, strong troubleshooting and coding ability. Senior expectations: design/solution ownership, introduce automation and rigorous validation, represent work to stakeholders, mentor/lead vendor teams. Hands-on leadership: leading means both guiding 34 offshore/onshore resources (eventually 46) and being technically hands-oncoding, reviewing, troubleshooting. Vendor interaction: will review offshore deliverables, call out gaps up front to avoid rework; typical daily interactions and morning overlap with offshore; rare evening calls depending on project composition. Assessment/screening approach: difficulty finding suitable AS/400 online tests; plan to use a mix of online tools, experienced consultants/technical leads for 30-minute technical screens, and internal screening aligned to client-provided one-to-three-line skill descriptors. Interview process: vendor screens submit profiles client team evaluates schedule video interviews (candidate on camera) two interview rounds feedback within 24 hours. Locations & work model: Richardson/Dallas, Chicago, or Arizona hubs considered; hybrid on-site expectation ~3 days/week. Contract terms: primarily contract (year-long based on current demand) with some contract-to-hire conversions possible after months of good performance. Hiring timeline / phasing: incremental onboarding expected (e.g., 3 by early Feb, 3 by mid-Feb, 3 by early March, 3 by mid-March) with a goal to fill all 12 by end of March if quality allows. Reporting and tracking: weekly dashboard/tracker requested showing requirement status, next steps, and projected onboard dates to monitor progress.
