Position: Staff Software Engineer Location: 100% Remote Duration: 6+ Contract Job Description: DESCRIPTION General Responsibilities: Write high-quality code that satisfies customer needs and strives for simplicity, clarity, and testability. Promote and help create a collaborative team environment and work closely with colleagues to achieve business objectives. Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g. business stakeholders, product owners, project managers, and end users) to understand functional and non-functional requirements. Investigate and propose solutions to development and design problems. Participate in scope of work estimation and forecasting. Lead the creation of architecture, design, implementation, and security standards and best practices. Participate in code reviews or use collaborative programming techniques to promote high quality business outcomes. Conduct analysis to determine integration needs, and design and plan integrations. Implement unit and integration tests and conduct functional and performance testing where appropriate. Develop reusable software building blocks to enable faster delivery. Improve performance of existing software by diagnosing and resolving critical issues. Prepare technical documentation, including software design evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals. Adhere to and create development best practices and processes. Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement. Training and mentoring of peers and other staff Performs other duties as assigned Other Required Qualifications: Growth mindset and a willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and frameworks. Required Expert level proficiency in one or more coding languages. (JavaScript/Typescript, C#, Python, Java, Swift or Kotlin) Required Familiarity with any of the following tools/platforms/frameworks is a plus: GitHub, GitHub Actions, .NET Core, Vue.js/React.js, Apigee, Nexus repository, Terraform, Twilio, and GCP/Azure. Preferred Experience with automation of CI/CD pipelines Required Strong understanding of object-oriented programing, familiarity with functional programing is a plus. Required Experience in cloud native, deploying within cloud environments, serverless development and/or container-based solutions. Required Expert level understanding of best practices in the design and securing of REST-based APIs Required Understanding of agile methodology and software development lifecycles. Required Experience with version control (Git) and open-source practices. Required Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing. Required Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Required Ability to work both independently and on a team. Required Ability to drive the team to successful completion of technical tasks Required Strong ability to understand context for code, the codebase, and its relation to business objectives. Required Ability to sit for long periods of time.
