The person in this position will perform project quality assurance and governance activities as well as provide project management support. This position resides in the Project Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) at the Alabama Medicaid Agency (AMA). The PPMO includes project, change, and resource management personnel in support of the Information Systems and Technology (IST) Department and Agency program (business) areas. The position generally has the following responsibilities, but not limited to the following: Perform IT project quality assurance (PQA) reviews on select projects and report items that do not meet Agency policies and procedures. Support the PPMO by means of using and supporting the IT Project Governance process, AMA Procurement process, IT Change Management process, and related materials. Support the PPMO division as necessary by helping others on their projects and activities as well as providing feedback on the process and tools used by the groups. Gather and provide status updates on a regular basis as appropriate (e.g., Weekly status to PPMO Director on assigned work, PQA Status Reports). Facilitate open and effective communication channels using verbal and written methods and different tools (e.g., MS Teams) as appropriate on assigned activities. Create and maintain project schedules, resources, budgets, and scope requirements, and work areas of concern with the appropriate groups as assigned. Monitor project quality, changes, conflicts, risks, and issues as well as provide guidance to the project team through identification, analysis, mitigation, and resolution as assigned. Work directly and indirectly with team members from technical and functional areas using varying tools and methods to accomplish timely and quality products and deliverables; and help assist in removing roadblocks.

Skills Preferred

Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) Project Oversight, Governance, or Auditing CMS Certifications involvement Financial Management

Experience Required

Five (5) years of IT project management experience to include managing projects with an extended duration, using all project lifecycle phases, and coordination of people from different stakeholder areas.

Experience Preferred

Two (2) years of project management experience managing Information Technology (IT) projects from initiation through closure in a matrix organization where project team members report to other manager(s). Two (2) years of experience of managing State Government or Healthcare related projects. Two (2) years of experience performing computer systems analysis or programmer analyst type work.

Education Required

Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Education Preferred

Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related major (e.g., Computer/Information Systems, Business Administration, Project Management). Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP or similar certification). Project Agile Certification (e.g., PM-ACP, CSM, or similar certification).
