About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal MuleSoft Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and full-lifecycle management of our Payments API ecosystem. This critical role requires deep technical knowledge of MuleSoft and advanced API Security for Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS). You will be responsible for optimizing vCore utilization, ensuring high availability, and designing fault-tolerant, scalable payment solutions. Additionally, you will drive platform observability, design future hybrid deployment strategies, and leverage Generative AI tools to accelerate rapid development and enhance the ecosystems business value. Key Responsibilities: API Architecture: Architect, design, and implement high-performance, scalable MuleSoft APIs for secure financial and payment processing. Infrastructure Optimization: Optimize vCore utilization, worker configurations, and autoscaling strategies across CloudHub and on-premises environments; design future hybrid deployment strategies. Security & Compliance: Implement rigorous API security hardening, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, encryption standards, and adherence to Financial Data Exchange (FDX) standards. Data & Message Processing: Build high-throughput, low-latency event-driven architectures utilizing Apache Kafka and integrate flexible NoSQL data stores like MongoDB and Azure CosmosDB. Observability & Resilience: Establish robust platform observability frameworks using ELK, AppDynamics, and Grafana to monitor performance and anomalies; implement High Availability (HA) clustering and load balancing. Process & Leadership: Enforce DevSecOps, CI/CD automation, and Agile best practices. Establish API governance frameworks, mentor junior engineers, and leverage Gen AI tools to optimize workflows. Essential Skills: MuleSoft Expertise: 10+ years of enterprise integration experience with deep mastery of MuleSoft (CloudHub, RTF, On-Prem). Financial API Security: Comprehensive knowledge of tokenization, certificate management, and gateway security specific to banking environments. Data Streaming: Proven background executing real-time data streaming and event processing via Kafka. Desirable Skills: AI Productivity: Practical experience integrating Generative AI code assistants to accelerate automated integration flows. Incident Command: Strong background leading root cause analysis and proactive risk mitigation for tier-1 transactional systems.
