This role serves as the bridge between lab stakeholders (scientists, QA, regulatory teams) and technical teams (data architects, engineers, governance), ensuring that lab workflows and data are accurately captured, standardized, and aligned to the enterprise data foundation. Key Responsibilities 1. Business Requirements Elicitation (Lab Informatics) Engage with: o Lab scientists and researchers o QA and compliance teams o Lab IT and system owners Capture detailed requirements for: o LIMS, SDMS, ELN workflows o Data capture, processing, and reporting ________________________________________ 2. Lab Process & Workflow Analysis Analyze and document end-to-end lab processes, including: o Sample lifecycle o Methods and experiments o Test execution and results generation Identify process flows across: o LIMS o SDMS (instrument data capture) o ELN ________________________________________ 3. Data Analysis & Domain Understanding Identify and define: o Key data entities (samples, methods, experiments, results, instruments) o Relationships and dependencies between entities Analyze: o Data flows across systems o Data usage by business stakeholders ________________________________________ 4. Source System Analysis (LIMS / SDMS / ELN) Perform deep-dive analysis of: o LIMS (structured lab data) o SDMS (instrument-generated files and metadata) Understand: o Data structures o Field meanings o Data quality issues and inconsistencies ________________________________________ 5. Requirements Translation to Data Foundation Artifacts Translate business needs into: o Data model inputs (entities, attributes, relationships) o Source-to-target mappings o Data dictionary definitions Ensure alignment with: o Standard data model o Data governance requirements ________________________________________ 6. Data Mapping & Transformation Support Support mapping activities: o Field-level mapping from LIMS/SDMS to target models Identify: o Data gaps o Transformation logic o Standardization requirements ________________________________________ 7. Data Quality & Governance Support Identify and document: o Data quality issues o Inconsistencies across systems Support definition of: o Business rules o Data quality requirements Collaborate on governance topics: o Ownership o Stewardship o Definitions ________________________________________ 8. Integration & Use Case Analysis Support definition of: o Data consumers (QA, reporting, analytics, regulatory) o Integration needs across systems Identify use cases for: o Reporting and compliance o Analytics and digital thread ________________________________________ 9. Documentation & Artifact Development Develop and maintain: o Business requirement documents (BRDs) o Functional specifications o Process flow diagrams o Data definitions and mapping documents ________________________________________ 10. Stakeholder Workshops & Validation Facilitate and participate in: o Requirement workshops o Data validation sessions Validate outputs with: o Lab SMEs o QA and compliance teams o IT stakeholders ________________________________________ 11. Support Program Delivery Work closely with: o Data architects o Data modelers o Governance leads Support delivery across: o Discovery o Modeling o Governance o Architecture alignment Mandatory skills: Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree in: o Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering o Information Systems / Data Analytics (with lab experience) 510 years of experience in: o Business analysis o Lab informatics or scientific data environments ________________________________________ Domain Expertise (Mandatory) Hands-on experience with: o LIMS systems (LabWare, STARLIMS, Thermo Fisher, etc.) o SDMS platforms (BIOVIA, LabVantage, Waters NuGenesis, etc.) o ELN systems (preferred) Strong understanding of: o Lab workflows (sample lifecycle, experiments, results) o Instrument data capture and file structures o Scientific data lifecycle and regulatory needs Core Skills Business Analysis Requirements elicitation and documentation Process modeling and gap analysis Stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation ________________________________________ Lab Informatics LIMS / SDMS data structures and workflows Scientific data interpretation Instrument data understanding ________________________________________ Data Analysis Data mapping and transformation logic Data quality issue identification Business rule definition ________________________________________ Documentation & Tools Process flow tools (Visio, Lucidchart) Data mapping and documentation tools Strong Excel and analytical skills ________________________________________ Communication & Collaboration Strong communication with business and technical teams.
