Do not submit candidates who do not meet this bar. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join our engineering team in the Raleigh, NC area. In this role, you will work both independently and as part of a technical leadership group to design, build, and maintain high-quality full-stack applications. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Java/Spring Boot, modern front-end frameworks (Angular), cloud technologies (AWS), and microservices architecture. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as this position involves mentoring peers, documenting requirements, and driving technical standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Full-Stack Development & Architecture Drive full lifecycle software development across front-end, middle-tier, and back-end layers. Build, maintain, and containerize applications using Spring Boot, Angular, and modern API standards. Complete user stories on time with high technical quality to ensure reliable release cycles. Perform system analysis, technical design, effort estimation (story pointing), and task breakdown within an Agile environment. Design and manage REST APIs and integrate networking concepts (DNS, HTTP APIs, JWT tokens, OIDC flows). 2. Technical Leadership & Innovation Act as a technical subject matter expert, mentoring junior and peer developers. Evangelize standard development practices, code quality standards, and design patterns. Identify and advocate for modern technologies and tools that optimize developer productivity and application scalability. Coordinate and delegate functional tasks as necessary across cross-functional teams. 3. Quality Assurance & UX Meet or exceed project unit/functional test coverage goals to prevent production escapes. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), stress testing, and volume/performance testing. Collaborate closely with business and UX teams to design intuitive interfaces and implement UX components. 4. Product Reliability & Operations Ensure application architectures consistently meet or exceed targeted SLAs. Serve as part of an on-call rotation to resolve production issues within specified response windows (15-minute response goal). Assist infrastructure teams with deployment processes, environment configurations, and CI/CD pipelines. Required Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of professional software engineering experience. Core Java: Expert-level proficiency in Java, Spring, and Spring Boot. Front-End Development: Hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (specifically Angular or equivalent). Cloud & Containerization: Experience building and deploying containerized applications (Docker/Kubernetes). Hands-on experience with AWS EKS cluster deployments. Databases: Strong hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Security & Protocols: Deep understanding of web security concepts, including JWT token handling and OIDC authentication flows. Tools & Methodologies: Proven expertise with Git, CI/CD deployment pipelines, and Agile development practices.
