Job Title : GIS Engineer Visa: Any visa Except H1B/CPT Location: Remote Duration : 6+ Months Experience: 8+ Years Note: The candidate must be able to provide support a minimum of 35 hours a week Job Description: Project Details Qualified candidates should have intermediate GIS knowledge and experience working in a contemporary GIS setting with health-related data. The Analyst will develop and implement project plans to address community needs through mapping and assist with planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating data as well as quality assurance systems. This position may be asked to support other programs, as needed.. Responsibilities Chosen candidates will be responsible for the following along with any related tasks that might arise during their employment: Creatively problem solve, conduct analysis, and produce exceptional maps and mapping web applications. Handle time sensitive data and cleaning, geocoding, spatial data aggregations, point density mapping. Demonstrate general knowledge of best practices for map layout and design. Create workflows from raw data through Map Portal application development. Perform geospatial data management, analysis, and documentation, including scripting automation with ArcPY and Jupyter notebooks. Assist with planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating data as well as quality assurance systems. Collect and analyze data in various software application systems including but not limited to ArcGIS software, PowerBI knowledge a plus. Maintains and updates GIS data and related databases using GIS and other software. Completes mapping tasks in a timely manner and prioritizes mapping requests. Applies quality control/quality assurance standards and best practices to maintain integrity in GIS data. Conducts spatial analysis and database queries. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications: Professional knowledge of general health disparities on communities of color, low-income communities, and other highly impacted communities. Working proficiency with Census, ACS, and other authoritative demographic data sources. Experience with supervision or leading a team. Knowledge of, or experience with SQL for querying spatial and non-spatial data Fluency in Microsoft Office software (Required). Experience with database management and best practices in GIS pertaining to health-related data Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software platforms and applications (ArcPRO, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise) is necessary.
