Position: UX Designer Location: Redmond, WA (REMOTE) Duration: 12+ Months NO OPT NEED PP NUMBER or RECENT i94 JOB DESCRIPTION: Job Summary You are an experienced Senior UX mixed-methods researcher (4+ years corporate experience), having worked with cross-functional teams in a corporate environment to run UX research programs from scoping to pitching to delivery to driving change. Your superpower is your ability to dive into telemetry/instrumentation datasets to uncover patterns of behavior and connect those to gaps in the customer experience and opportunities for business impact. You are able to blend quant and qual insights holistically to make the case for and to drive product improvements. You are experienced with the tricks and tips needed to navigate through and across messy datasets and run clever queries to identify patterns and product-impacting insights. You are a compelling storyteller that makes the insights stick, and help drive product change. You will be working with a small team of mixed-methods researchers and data scientists to influence product teams. Years of Experience Required 4+ years Degrees or certifications required BA or MA/MS in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field; or the equivalent in work experience. Best vs. Average Someone with experience working in a large enterprise with experience in team work environments, data manipulation, data analysis, and data reporting. Somone who is confident with communicating effectively and presenting through PowerPoint and Word Recent experience as in they are not having to relearn SQL, Python, etc because they havent used it in over a year or have only used them in school and need to brush up on it. The sponsor is looking for someone who knows it already and is highly skilled. Experience with Google Cloud platform, Azure Web Services, or Azure in a core cloud computing area in a technical space. Performance indicators Quality of work. Weekly Progress. Will be looking at how they show weekly progress in terms of experimentation. So, they are diving in and trying new things and learning from it. Instead of disappearing for months and coming back and showing this is what they have, the sponsor prefers someone who makes progress by showing that they are playing around and exploring stuff, showing little bits of discoveries over time. Top Skills required: Experience working and making sense of telemetry data to inform product decisions and opportunities | 4+ Years of Experience Driving/Organizing/Delivering UX Research with Data Manipulation and Visualization (SQL, KQL, Python) |4+ Years of Experience Python or Programming Skills | 4+ Years of Experience Experience in Cloud Computing (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP) to be able to quickly ramp up in the range of products your work will support; Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Azure Synapse, Snowflake).| 4+ Years of Experience Portfolio is required with every candidate submission. Preferred Portfolio Requirements: A UX portfolio presentation to demonstrate effective communication skills, that touches on your UX Research process, as well as your experience and impact applying Big Data skills to product areas in a corporate setting, touching on kick-off, scoping, planning, executing, analysis, reporting, and driving changes with a dynamic cross-functional team. Walking the sponsor through a project where they had a proud moment where they were working with data and driving product impact. They should be able to demonstrate their process for engaging on a project, scoping the project, starting to set up their data sets, manipulate it. How they are going to discover insights and rule out a wrong hypothesis/wrong conclusions. And how they are going to clean up the data for good visualization and good data storytelling. Will not accept the response that they cannot share a project due to an NDA, they will need to find a different way to show their skillset through portfolio. The sponsor needs the data visualization and for them to show they can present/tell a story well. The sponsor is looking for people ready to go with current and active experience using query language to supplement qual research with large scale user behavior telemetry.
