Description: 

This position is responsible for optimizing reliability and stability of services/applications for our HCSC Application production environment. Enabling best practices for delivery teams and the technology production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health. Shifting reliability considerations to the left (reliability by design) to enable proactive vs reactive asset support.

Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions

Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvement

Define best practices for application reliability engineering and influence responsible delivery teams to ensure reliability/stability

The Application Reliability Engineer will act as the liaison between Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Product Engineering, and IT Product Teams to drive positive end-to-end user experiences and business outcomes. Achieve shift-left by creating applicable patterns such logging and error handling with growing consistency in implementing the same. This role will help to establish and scale automation, as well as foster and drive Reliability core principles to develop an engineering mindset.

Job Responsibilities:

* Gather and analyze metrics from applications as well as various tools available to assist in performance tuning and fault finding by collaborating with functional and product teams to identify and prioritize defects/issues and address application design flaws that impact reliability.

* Drive reliability outcomes via Continuous Improvement, Defect Resolution and Automation.

* Identify performance bottlenecks, product and process improvements, technical debt, feedback on release quality and collaborate with Product teams to implement the solutions and to adhere to standards.

* Active participation in defining Product Roadmap to ensure proper forcus on reliability related topics across Product Engineering, Product and Quality Engineering teams while tracking corrective actions and owners.

* Leverage the Product Engineerings six principles: respect, holistic stewardship, quality, continuous learning, reduce toil, and experimentation.

* Collaborate and influence Development, Quality, and Release Engineering teams to optimize reliability outcomes and ensure sustainable systems.

* Participate in system design consulting, best practices for platform management, and optimized capacity planning

* Balance feature development, speed to market, and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives

Required Job Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.

* Minimum of 8 years of work experience in Software Development/Application Support or Infrastructure Engineering roles.

* Experience with application monitoring, troubleshooting and automation.

* Experience in driving root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and automation initiatives at project level.

* Strong understanding of programming languages, databases, operating systems, and network infrastructure.

* Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement with a strong understanding of ticket management tools like Service Now.

* Proficiency in tools and technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Salesforce, Workday, Python, Linux, Windows, VM Ware Tanzu, Microsoft Azure and any API/Automation/CI-CD related technologies.

* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

* Candidate should have strong problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail and commitment to Continuous Learning.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

* Masters degree in related field.

* Strong experience and understanding in different life cycle including and not limited to Waterfall, Optimized Waterfall, Scrum, Scaled Agile, LeSS, Nexus and Scaled Scrum.

* Coding experience beyond simple scripts.

* Background with large-scale digital and / or high-volume, complex claims processing environments.
