Linux and Infrastructure Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division at the Germantown, MD Responsibilities: Design and deploy compute (bare metal and virtualization) and storage infrastructure, working closely with system designers and integrators Develop and document design and network diagrams Troubleshoot and optimize the infrastructure for telecommunications - high performance and highly available - data, control and management planes in a private data center Ability to develop and code using software frameworks and version control systems Analyze and resolve performance related issues at the OS, storage and virtualization layers Recommend and implement mechanisms to regularly and automatically upgrade and patch COTS hardware and software Recommend and deploy solutions to automate infrastructure deployments Requirements: 3-6 years of experience with Linux Operating Systems, preferably Red Hat and AlmaLinux 3+ years of experience doing network-based installs, upgrades and zero touch provisioning techniques in a private data center environment 3+ years of experience with scripting languages: Python and bash preferred. Specifically targeted to infrastructure as code 3+ years of experience with virtualization in private data centers, with experience with KVM and ovirt 3+ years of experience with storage systems, with experience with CEPH Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors or higher degree in a related field Expertise in Linux and virtualization on Linux in private networks; Knowledge of Python and Ansible Experience with COTS infrastructure components like servers, storage, switches, firewalls and routers Knowledge of Kubernetes and Openstack is a plus but not required Knowledge of automation frameworks that provision and provide configuration management Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Good communication skills, both oral and written Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively within a team environment Keywords: Maryland Virginia |
